Live and for recordings I always put a bass drum mic right in front of the hole in the back. That gives the bass some nice low frequencies. In front a directional microphone for the snare and bells. Sometimes a overhead mic for the room sounds. I like it when I have some choices while mixing.

Would the base pedal,not give you a more bass tone, if it was lower down

Yes it does! I play with it around all the time. Even at live shows I change the sound depending on the song.

No need to flip the heck stick only to play it by brushes? 🙂 Works in normal position for me as well.

That is also possible. But after a while my wrist starts to hurt so I turned it around. It feels a little more like a hihat this way for me.

Is is possible to use standart double bass pedal fo cajon?

You can try it but then you have to play with your heel instead of the front of the foot. I don´t like that personally. And don´t forget to change the beater to a soft one!

He James! Good question. I sometimes use the sides of the Cajon, but the best is hitting the front plate in the area above or around where the beater hits the wood. You can play around with the tightness of the brushes for some other sounds. Have fun exploring!

My dad's bandmate played cajon and he had a pair of congos. You can use those but with the cost of having the weight increased and thus having worse portability.

You are making a whole lot of sense cos you are savinga whole lot of bother and space and expense! 😂

I had a foot ride. Worked great and added sparkle to my guitar.

Nice work but... Cajon is a percussion not a drums and the way to play it is different. If you want to transform cajon to a drum set,then is better to play directly on a drum set...

@@willpriormusic I tried it once. It looks good because it has a direct connection but it doesn't feel very strong. The De Gregorio is stronger built and in my opinion will last longer. So if you can mis the extra money you should buy the De Gregorio.
