I've been told its not balanced, and its only via the T.O's that put in house rules that there is balance in tournaments.

​@CodmOdenUserAmbush is basically an overwatch shot. If something moves, and the unit on ambush can see it at one point, the unit may choose to fire. The unit on ambush can fire st whatever point the crossing unit is, so its best to fire at a point where the unit has no cover and is in close range. Rally is used when a unit has (multiple) pins. The unit rolls 2d6, and if the result is at or below the units maximum morale (ignores any pins the unit might have), the unit may rally. A rallying unit rolls d6, adds one, the unit removes that amount off pins It doesnt matter what kind of order u give when firing. The amount of shots is determined by the amount of firearms and what kinds of firearms the unit uses. A rifle gets 1 shot, an assault & smg get 2, an lmg gets 4 (5 if ur german) etc. Lmk if there are any questions!

​@@Nazgull2k1there are indeed several hundreds of pages of rules. It doesnt really help that the rulebooks layout isnt straight forward :p But even then, i learn new things everyday! Jo mortenson has 2 quizzes with rules, great to learn new things!

So funny thing, I actually learned how to play bolt action by watching miniwargaming batreps. The players in my area were surprised when we played and I told them I'd never played before. Having played 40k for over 20 years, bolt action is fairly streamlined.

I've got a collection of army men. I have all different eras and armies. I've never played bolt action before, but some day I want to give it a try. I saw a pack of 6 and they were almost £19. I tend to prefer action figures that are based on real life soldiers. I know things like warhammer are popular, their just not my thing. I also play the 3DO games army men. I get a lot of my figurines from BMC toys online!

I like stuff from warlord games especially hail caesar, pike & shotte and of course bolt action : )

Building the minatures is easy but the head getting them attached is annoying but there great. And thank you for this amazing video.

Looking at these models helps me with my self esteem with paint. I'm always super critical of myself.

Wis this was a full tutorial not just a 10m tutorial. love it is in the vault great way to get people interested in this game..

To build up some excitement, would have been nice to have the basic intro videos all here for free, not behind the paywall. Off to learn Bolt Action elsewhere I guess!

Would you consider doing stuff for Beyond the gates of Antares alongside the Bolt Action and Konflikt 47 items? it’s a great little game that just needs pushing a bit more basically the same game system

My only “ beef “ with Bolt Action is the COST of those dice ! I’m an Old School Gamer ( started in the Seventies) and I find it hard to pay $20-$40 for dice. Going to try markers first. ( yes, I use regular D6 of different colors for the draw.)

I'm an old school gamer as well. I'm learning how to use my 3d printer and I would happily send you some dice for free if you ever wanted to go "fancy". My brother's and I would use the cheap army men from the toy section and steal the dice from other board games to play or version of Bolt action. I miss those games 😞

Those pin markers they used are actually twist dials--they go from 1-12. I wouldn't use multiple markers like they did, because it detracts from the miniatures IMHO.

Check out Chain of Command. An even better game, IMHO. Produced by Two Fat Lardies and they don't sell their own models and figures. Just rule sets.

Are there any good models out you can use for this game? :/ The Infantry Models in this scale look generally underwhelming in quality. The Vehicle are fine.

Im gonna play this game with my friends whoever wins takes the money there has to be a bet to make it even more fun and if its a team vs team whoever has the most kills on the victorious team and manage to survive till victory gets the money

Only when the unit is hit, not when the unit is fired upon but gets missed

at 3:13 that TARGET IS DOWN should be a MINUS 2 right? Instead of PLUS 2.

How does the learning of this game compare to Pre Age of Sigmar Warhammer Fantasy Editions?

I don't know if my local gaming store has any events or players for this..haven't asked. At my store it's mostly Warhammer or Star Wars that you see being played for mini wargames. You can reserve tables though so if there is someone there who plays the game and they know someone else they can reserve a table to play at.

im a bit confused as initially you draw a dice and then move that unit ... then the guy says choose a unit and do what you like!

Looks real good, shame about the dice bag mechanic, i HAAAATE double activations, and this mechanic seems like an even bigger infractor

I have a question can you play the game without the order dice??

So, basically a chance game where your ability to win, depends on the roll of the dice not your ability to control the progress of the game. Next...

Not at all. Look at the 1000 point starter armies (the game is typically played between 750 - 1250 points)

I prefer the old Space Marine secretly placed Token system, combined with Heroes of Normandy limited number of activations and bluff tokens. It would be nice to also have a limited number of interrupts for units with higher initiative value.

Is this the most popular war game outside of Warhammer?

It's actually not bad as far as table top games go. You can have a playable Army for about $100 USD.

Umm- so the Order Check is the Unit's base Morale minus the number of Pins? That seems wrong. Pins making Order Checks easier?

You’re trying to get under the number. So the lower the number, the harder it is to pass. If a regular unit has 6 moral -2 for pins = needing to get lower than 4 on two dice to pass.

Blasted youtube subscription alerts hid this from me...

Was he playing the Americans poorly? Are the different factions balanced generally? Looked like the Germans were easily going to crush them in every interaction.

The models look cool. I'd say you've explained the rules in 10 mins but still too complex to remember how to play 🙄

A few questions. 3:50 He rolled 11 d6, not 10 (edited out perhaps) 3:58 Why does the attacker roll 4 d6 again?

The extra 4 dice come from Tough Fighters, which any Assault weapons such as SMGs confer. Models with tough fighters can roll an extra attack in CQC if they hit successfully in that combat.

The attacker rolls 4 extra dice because according to the “your mom” rule, every player is permitted to make rolls that frustrate people with ridiculous profile pics. 🪖🤣

You dont really throw them. When infantry assaults an armored vehicle, it wouldnt really make sense to imagine a bunch of rifleman stabbing the tank with bayonets or shooting the armor plate with pistols and hoping it somehow damages the tank. So there is a rule in place where infantry assaulting armor can only result in superficial damage or maybe spooking the crew with a suppression. BUT, if they have the anti tank grenades, and you can get very lucky, you CAN cause a small bit of damage (i imagine it is because they toss the grenades into the windows or down the turret). Basically if a squad of 12 paratroopers run bravely into a panzer during a gallant bayonet charge, theyre gonna be massacred. But if they assault with grenades, maybe you lose a few of them but they roll high and knock out a tread or disable the turret.

I'm interested in this now as I'm tired of the overpriced Warhammer 40k stuff. I'm tired of the constant rule changing and nobody ever playing it now.

Not even 1 minute in - "We gonna treat everything as veteran teams" - How am I suppose to know what that mean and how it changes how we look at what will happen?

Inexperienced, regular, veterans are the 3 grades of every unit in bolt action. The differences are for command (being able to successfully give an order while pinned), morale (likelihood of them running away when getting too many pins, defensive skill (how good they are at ducking when being shot and avoiding taking hits), special weapons (units like mortars cannot use indirect fire with a spotter etc.), special skills (things like medics and chaplains are more likely to succeed at their unique ability with higher grades), accuracy (how good they are at shooting at enemy units directly). Basically the regular is always the standard value to practice with, veterans are +1 for just about everything, while inexperienced roll -1 for just about everything. Im greatly simplifying, but that is the general idea, buddy.

Yet another game im not interested in, I appreciate that you guys like it and that's fine 😊. Id much prefer to watch marvel crisis protocol or star wars legion, but if BA makes you happy then go for it!

Only 10 minutes to explain but you cut the video. so it took more than 10. How deceptive.
