Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I am fortunate to be able to farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. Occasionally I'll get my dad in a video as well. While I am the 4th generation in my family to farm some of what we are still farming today, I really credit my dad with making our farm what it is. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.
Please enjoy my content and ask questions as you have them. I do my best to answer anything I can. Thanks for watching!
I appreciate you subscribing to my channel and liking my videos. You can also find me on Facebook borderviewfarms and on Instagram @borderviewfarms

The button controls how aggressive the tractor accelerates and decelerates..
Congrats on the first field
Nice Rig.
That's great Nathan, just like a kid on Christmas Day!!!
🔥right on man, nice to see ya out in field getting corn in the ground. That tractor planter setup is just killer🔥👊🔥🏍🚜🔨🪵
Been patiently waiting for this one thank you Nathan !
Great call on finishing the field! So happy to see you, that planter and that beautiful 8rx in the field!
You can't beat a Honda small engine
Nice. Game on. Plant 2022 is on!!!
We got 8RXs last year and Kenn Feld did a good job setting them up, but there was an issue from the factory with track alignment. One of ours chewed the drive lugs up a bit on one track due to misalignment. You’ll want to keep an eye on yours. We’re just down the road from you along Hwy 20 by SR576 in Ohio. Good luck with the new rig.
You are a freak'n celebrity now! 😁
That Tractor is awesome once you get comfortable and learn everything about it will be even better great to see you in the field back at it Great package hopefully weather cooperates
Glad you did not find the ejection seat button. Here is a toast to high yields and prices for 2022.
Nice to see some field work again nice looking outfit. Hope it perform well 👍
That new tractor is sweet looks like pretty easy job of figuring everything thing out and how it all works
Inside your tractor cab go to menu on your monitor select application and setup and that's how you setup your joystick.
Good to see some Field work good video
Congratulations!!! You work so hard and stay on task, you so deserve that nice equipment , I’m happy and proud for you and your family.
I think that button is for how aggressive it accelerates. The more lights you have on the faster it will accelerate and decelerate
Looking good there Nathan. Very cool bud!!😊
Great video! Hard to show how hard that must be when driving new stuff on first day! Wow!
Just like Christmas morning Eh Nathan.
Nice to see all the work you did with the new system on the planter worked out.
Wish u the best for the 2022 planting season the 8rx is awesome keep farming an I will keep watching
All in all, a good day. 👍🏻
Them buttons are your sensitivity for your joystick
Great video Nathan, love the new setup. I hope it makes all the difference and you get some bumper crops this season. I also appreciate all the technical information you give, you are a wealth of knowledge and by sharing you are undoubtedly helping a lot of subscribers become better farmers.
Nice to see the 8RX in the field, it's dirty now ;-)
I know just how you feel about getting in to a new machine or working a new one! Over my years working on the Railway I did it many times. (enjoy) best of luck with your crops!!
Nice product placement on the TV. Both of you had the Golden Harvest name front and center.
That is one good looking tractor/planter setup you have. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great video looks great 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hey there Nathan, I hope this finds you all well and good! You lucky dog, a brand new John Deere Signature Series 8RX with IVT, it don't get any better than that brother! I feel sure you've already gotten lots of answers to your Command Pro button question, so let me give you the correct answer. That button controls the aggressiveness/time that it takes to accelerate from a dead stop, to your pre-selected operating speed. You have 3 settings which are personal preferences, just try them and see which one you best like. I will tell you this, the less aggressive/longer acceleration time settings will save you a relatively small amount of fuel, it's similar to a jackrabbit start in your car. I'll be waiting for your 100 hour evaluation report, I have no doubt it will be positive. I hope y'all have a good one ! "Nothing Runs Like A Deere" 🦌👍🇺🇸
Very great new video again for the farm
I might own that exact tractor once it’s 20 years old lol 😂 For awhile I had almost everything late model, less than 5 years old, but it’s going to be a long time before we upgrade. We did amazing with 80’s and 90’s Deere equipment. I sold every last one of that old stuff for more than what I paid for it! You can’t do that with any other flavor of the rainbow. It’s FREE! 🤪
Just realized, you sure got a huge choice of sports teams to cheer for, both college and pro, nice, cheers!
Nice video Nathan love the 8RX we plan on starting Monday the 25th we have new 8R340s to plant with, on each planter we’re pretty excited to drive them but we’re so dry in Nebraska and we’re not sure how it’s gonna work good luck on your planting season
That’s pretty awesome, does the ground under the 8RX tracks feel as compacted as the 8R tire tracks?
We planted all day yesterday putting in soybeans. Today dad started at 10 its damp but not too bad. I'm eating lunch then I'm running the cultivator so we can get some ground drying out . Glad to see the 8rx running keep up the good work!
Dude you look like a natural on TV
that button adjust how sensitive the joystick is too your movement
Nice vid!
Ouch! Don't you dare drop me again! :P
I also put a new surefire system on and set to their calibration mine was approximately 1 gal/acre heavy.
John Deere rx8 button control on joy stick, Rate of Movement - The trapezoid shaped thumb button adjusts the response rate of acceleration and deceleration, low (1 light), medium (2 lights) and high rate (3 lights) of movement.
The button with the three lights will determine how quickly the tractor changes directions and accelerates or decelerates when you push the joystick forward or backward or you hit the power reverser handle to change directions. If you are going forward and you want to gradually come to a stop and then gradually start your speed back up in reverse as you flip the power reverser lever then leave The button on one light. If you want the tractor to come to a stop very quickly and then start to back up very quickly when you flip the power reverser handle then you can put it on three lights. Two lights will be in between of course. You will notice more of a difference when you are revved up at high RPMs.
Have you looked at saddle tanks for the RX? Been wondering which would produce less compaction a trailer or saddle tanks.
Sweet rig, are you thinking about planting a little faster. 6 mph Seems like you could do it, your on a great seed bed. Hope you didn't get the 2/3 inches like they did north of you
Hey Nathan. Great to see the new tractor out and about. Quick question, why are there different coloured kernels? Thanks for the video and happy planting.
❤❤❤
OH MY GOSH!!!!! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY FOR YOU!!! I mean, your new house, another kiddo on the way (hows NEXT lil'Nathan commin alonng... BTW???) AND NEW TRACTOR AND EVERYTHING (almost EVERY THING) :) how did BROCK like pullin the BIG DIGGER WITH THE BIG TRACKTOR???? lol
Tracks are nice, but there’s just something a tractor with big tires
I see other ytbers using an iPad as a second screen?? It was a very enjoyable first day! I want to go faster!! The planter looked like it was skating on ice. Smooooth. I didn't check, how fast were "we" planting? Oboy, Oboy, Oboy 1
1:53 thanks to the ALLONE for ARMOR CELL FONE CASES... ;) LOL
Great video as always! Mind if I ask, do you also self-treat your corn seed?
Hey Nathan coming from a city background and with very poor vision on the planter I saw some arm things standing at the end could you tell me what those are, I believe they had wheels on them. I hope your crops this year are awesome and congrats on the 8rx

Those are markers. Used to mark the center of the next pass. With GPS I don't use them very much anymore.

@@BorderViewFarms oh ok thank you
that motor is not brand new and a little dusty...better run to the store and get a new one with a leather rope grab
How did it do on Fuel per Acre or hour compared to the old one?
Don’t you have an extra monitor in your new combine? Can’t remember if you do or not. Otherwise maybe look into taking the armrest monitor out of it and using that? We take our 2630 out of our R4038 sprayer and use it during harvest in a tractor. Not sure if it’s possible with a Gen 4 tho.
@BorderViewFarms
2 жыл бұрын
I dont think you can do that with the Gen 4 on the arm rest. The extend monitor will be able to move back and forth though.
The button is the aggressiveness or your transmission
I know you haven’t had the time to fully compare the 8R and the 8RX, but do you feel like the RX handles the planter better?
Why a 4 track and not a 2 track? Or why not tires but tracks? Is the mainentance of tracks no expensiver?
if you dont trust the equipment, just plant. Its called farming!
Why did you cultivate that field? Can't it be just planted as is?
Nathan...how is your wife going
Does the boron pump slow??? Thick? Special pump???

That’s what Triple R Farms said. Think it flows thru big hose gravity feed into bucket then pour up bucket and rinse
front end on while transporting? smh
you dig up more corn than you plant!!!!!
First!!
can't ya pull off the stuff you want on the second monitor onto an IPAD or tablet at least??? do ya NEED another JD MONITOR for the ''TRACTOR STUFF'' and the IPAD only good for the ISOBUS or ONLY something else NOT TRACTOR stuff????? 26:10
give your dad a tractor and a twelve row planter, he will plant more than you. lot less bull.

@@BorderViewFarms Cant do anything but chuckle at the arm chair farmers. Always something to say and critique about someone else's operation, but never willing to show their own operation. You do a phenomenal job Nate. Always checking and looking for the small details which shows in you and your fathers success on the farm. Theres a reason that 8rx is able to be on your farm, no cutting corners 👍🏼
