That mushroom is called dog stinkhorn for…obvious reasons. It often appears in leaf mould and wood chips. I had it all over the place one year. I did a 2 sisters garden one year and my squash grew up the stalks into nearby trees so that I had stalks hanging from the branches. Certainly made harvesting easier though I don’t think I’ll be doing it again

I saw a post recently that said mulching with pine needles around squash plants deters the squash bug. Gonna give it a try this week. I’ll keep you posted.

My slips all came from the 7 small Beauregards I bedded back mid February . I put 17 in a 30 foot hill covered with deep mulch. Weeks ago and they're running up a storm. I put 15 in a 5x10 raised bed last weekend they're starting to run. 2nd raised bed planted Saturday but ran short of rooted slips so not complete. Have 9 sitting in water with roots building. The bedded tater tub with continue to produce . Sweet taters makes good storage calories. Wayland, I'm going to have to look into a little vacuum cleaner 😊.. 👍👍

I was looking at a cordless shop vac. but the size was more than what I was looking for. This hand held is doing the trick so far. You are going to have so many sweet potatoes. Thank you for sharing.

No sweet potatoe slip in the ground yet but they are reviving from shipping well I put a couple of horse alfalfa pellets in the revival water So far so good
