I planted a peony last year and noticed it coming back this year! I’m so excited! My great grandmother planted her peonies between 1907-1920 and they are STILL coming back every spring.

Rochelle Hughes I love hearing stories of how long peonies have lasted over generations. I had no idea that anything other than a tree would last so long!
Peonies were planted on the grave of my great grandmother in 1946. They are still growing there.

Our peonies have been transplanted from parent's house 50+years & then transplanted to each house we've called home & there they've thrived. Now I think a splitting would help as they are enormous clumps.

My grandma was my inspiration for gardening. I didn’t realize it when I was young and stupid and would mow her lawn and wasn’t careful around her peonies. I made up for it though. I have about 20 varieties now. Thanks grandma!😊 I hope you’re looking down every summer!

You mean the cemetery has left them alone. My grandma's grave has peony which was her favorite flower and the cemetery dug them up and God knows what happened to them. made me so sad.
When i bought my grandma's house i got her peonies they are about 50 years old i love them dearly
I planted a peony because of you last year, thought it hated me and decided to die and made my peace with that, but lo and behold it’s still ALIVE😭💖

Sometimes the first year after you planted them, they don't do very well or they don't bloom. I always try to wait at least 2 years after planting something to see if it's going to take off or not

@@kiddobix That’s apparently what’s going on with mine. Been 3 yrs since I planted but I've got buds!! Of course the buds have been there for WEEKS and they're just abt to open as I leave for vacation. 🤦🏼♀️ Also mine are in part shade, I've never fed them and I probably planted too deep. If only I had watched this first!!!
Peonies are my favourite flowers! Growing up in Montana they were always blooming on Memorial day.

@@YL-jf1mm thx for correcting me. Now I know tree peony is Mudan (牡丹)and peony is Shaoyao(芍药). Peony (芍药)is also popular in our country.
🌸 🌿These are really tough and hardy plants. My Mom has a peony that she started from her Grandmother’s peony. Mom planted hers in the ‘80s. The original peony is close to if not over 100 years old now and still blooming. Amazing “old-timey” plants. Here in Tennessee, you can see these blooming in fields that were next to homesteads that are long gone. 🌸🌿

I planted some peony tubers 3 years ago and they finally have buds this year. I can’t wait to see these beautiful flowers finally blooming in my garden!
Hi Laura ! I’ve been gardening for 52 years. I love your videos your family and how you so generously share all that you do. I am always amazed at your knowledge and your passion for the same things I’ve loved all my life. It’s getting more and more difficult to get down to care for my gardens but watching you in your beautiful youth get right into it, every morning I’m refreshed to get back out there again. I’m passionate about watching your videos and I really hope you continue to create them so I can vicariously enjoy you and your gardens in my declining years. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have brought me so many hours of pure joy I’m very grateful.

My husband got me a bouquet of flowers for Mother's Day and there was a peony in it...and I was thinking yesterday while looking at the flowers that I should try to plant some in the garden. Then POOF, your video popped up! Thanks, Laura!!
Oh MY WORD, the blue with the yellow and now the coral... what a treat for the eyes that's going to be
I LOVE peonies. By far, my favorite flower all around!
Let me just say without even listening to this video that I love, love, love peonies. Good information. Thank you.
Thanks Laura, this is a great refresher video, it's been quite some time since I last planted peonies and I got 5 of them yesterday (all different) for Mother's Day! I'll head outside to start planting as soon as I comb my hair and apply a little makeup (don't want to scare the neighbors). I love all your videos!
I love this flower We have hilly back yard garden i m bit frustrating where i can plant Peonies
I love peonies and what great colors you chose. Coffee with Laura and a nice start to my work week, thanks for all the information!
Gorgeous peonies!! On my list of flowers to grow!
I am so excited to plant peonies! Thanks for all the tips! 💖😘🌸
I grew two peonies from root last year and they flowered. One huge pale pink flower on each they looked amazing. Even if they didn’t flower I think their leaves and stems look nice on their own too.
This couldn't come at a better time. I am ready to plant my peony now!! Thank you!

I looove peonies! I’d love to see an update on how these are doing!
Thank you Laura, that was exacly all i needed to know about peonies. Mine are almost blooming 👍🏻😊
Thanks Laura, didn't know that about the seed pods! Good tip!
Like many of your viewers, I love peonies as well. I have a long row of them, mixed colors, along my driveway and across the front of the yard. They are so gorgeous when they are in bloom! I salvaged some of the tubers when an old house was being torn down and some others a friend was removing from her old house yard. They were very old when I got them and I have had them for over 20 years and moved them 3 times as I have moved houses. If I have to go, they’re coming with me! I have the grid type supports I got at the dollar store probably 10 years ago.
Thank you for this video! I can't wait to see an update. My garden is not huge, but I will find a spot for some peonies. They're my favorites. Love your videos Laura, you are such an inspiration!
I could watch her videos all day. Excellent information and a pleasant disposition.

I love peonies and im going to add some to my garden as soon as I can
So true that they are an awesome beginner shrub. I've had mine 20 years.
Thank you Laura, very helpful like always!
Love your videos, it’s always an inspiration 👍🏼. I never thought peonies were so easy to grow! They’re gorgeous, I’m going to give it a try 😆. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your passion. Many blessings 🙏🏼
Love, love, love peonies. I also love that support system you showed, I will look for it because we end up using individual stakes for our flowers. I also learned something about the airflow, because each year I cut back the foliage really really early because it always looks burnt and mildewy, despite incredible health of everything else around them. Thanks for your teachings.
Thanks for this I love peonies 💖 Great info ❤️
I have been following you Laura in various videos. Must say I've learned so much from you. I have seven peony bushes and they are doing well. Have been bringing lots inside to make my floral arrangements to enjoy. Will be splitting some of them so that I have more in my garden. I am from Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Happy summer!
Peony, tullips, rose, are my look forward to. Looking forward to see my wild flower annual mix bloom.thank you for sharing!

I love your channel, I get so many ideas from them. Seeing the plant and bulb varieties in a landscape has really upped my game for choosing plants for my garden. I too live in the high desert, Denver can be a bit of a challenge. Hot and dry with brutal hot sun in the summer, loads of snow and cold dry winters, I have killed so many plants. Hearing your experience has helped so much. Thank you from the roots of my gardening heart.

Favorite from my childhood ❤️ planted 3 tubors this spring so far only 2 made it. Have others in my garden that have beautiful blooms but no smell so this year looking to plant new ones and aroma is what I am looking for ❤️
I buy a peony every year. Up to four In five years of having my own garden. I have a coral tree peony and wow from a stick to year five, its over 2ft tall. Loads of blooms, I just feed it.
Peonies are my all-time favorite flower in the landscape. I have just ten, but am always on the lookout for more. I love that you can get early, mid and late bloomers to extend the season. That coral one you planted looks very similar to my favorite, 'Paula Faye." And I saw what you did, Laura. I sprinkle my garden with plants named for loved ones to remember them when I wander about it. I once heard from a landscape designer she always places peonies in her designs because even after the blooms are finished they made a nice shrub or hedge.
Peonies are to me the best!
Super helpful! Love peonies!
They also dry beautifully. I cut mine at their peak then hang in a cool dark place upside down.
