Laura I am a Critical Care nurse to say the past almost two years have been challenging is beyond an understatement! But a little over a year ago I found your channel….. I have always had a passion for gardening past down from my Grandmother (she taught me lots)! But you ignited a fire in me that I haven’t felt in a very long time! Because of you I found my joy of gardening again at a MUCH needed time! Your videos and gardening have become my therapy! For that I say an incredibly heartfelt THANK YOU!

Jenean, I always have admired nurses, when my father, my mother and grandmother were in hospitals years ago, they have always cared so well for them. I learned to called them by name and to write down the especial touches they showed to my family in their care, such as bringing an extra pillow for them to be more comfortable or the concern they show if they got a fever, and when my loved ones were released from the hospitals, I wrote each nurse a thank you card, mentioning what made her (or him) so especial to us. I respect doctors, but they would show maybe once during the day, but our nurses were there all the time. In this trying times I want to thank you for all the care you have shown to your patients.

Oh my goodness the light coming through on your garden is absolutely beautiful! You are so lucky to have roses in your gardens. We moved to the country and planted a beautiful rose in my new garden which the deer throughly enjoyed. Who knew deer would eat something with thorns. Thank you for your beautiful videos and sharing your beautiful family with us.

I tried 3 times to grow roses. The deer also found mine delicious. Ate them down to the roots. Can't do hostas, either. But what I get in exchange, the beautiful deer, sometimes with their babies, hanging out in the morning, is worth it. There's lots of other stuff I can grow. And I always get to enjoy Laura's roses.

Nice job, Laura. All those roses will be amazing next year, and the foliage on the peony is gorgeous. You don’t know why you didn’t get them planted before??? Really? Let’s see….pregnancy last year….with major discomfort in the rib cage and numerous projects. Then there was that beautiful new baby at the beginning of this year, removal of the gazebo (and removal of all the plants and shrubs around it), arrival of the Hartley, ripping up sidewalks, fencing and curbing, removal of the waterfall, redefining the lines of the driveway and lawns around the house, planting the cut flower garden and vegetable garden (and harvesting daily), planting….how many trees and plants in the south garden, edging…..how many miles of lawn….with a manual 6” edger, no less, planting up how many containers at your house (let’s not forget the neighbor’s containers). Then, of course, there was that “little” project at the community college, adding dozens of plants to your neighbor’s garden on the embankment (plus all the other plantings and things you did for neighbors, family and friends), trimming your grandparents fruit trees and cleaning up their vegetable garden, winterizing the cold frame, planting containers at the day care center and the church, and probably at least 150 other projects. Gee, Laura, I just don’t know why you didn’t get those roses planted before now! LOL. Even with Superman Aaron handling the infrastructure and the contractors, etc., etc., etc. you must admit you were just a little busy this year. 💕😌👍

I am so happy to have your channel a part of my life. I have had a very strange and hard year. With C19 going crazy on my reservation and dealing with my sister's passing from Leukemia after 3.5 years, this September she entered Heaven. Watching you and your family has been a sweet escape. Even when your videos are 10 minutes long...it is 10 minutes I get to escape. It has done so much for my spirit and soul to just watch you and the plants. As a Native American from the Navajo tribe, it is beautiful to see some one so respectful of life and mother earth. It is no wonder you have been blessed with a green thumb and patience. I am happy to have you apart of my day and I hope you understand the peace and tranquility, warmth and comfort you give to this world. Thank you so much.

I know it's November and the garden is going to bed, but we haven't seen much of the old gardens around the house this year. Understandably, the focus has been on the exciting job of filling out all the new beds and pathways, and the cutting garden. Is it too late to do a pass through and see how things fared? ~ Lisa

Absolutely agree Laura, the graft belongs beneath the ground, it's the standard recommendation by David Austin and it makes total sense. Such a shame the pots are made of unsustainable peat, hope they can find some replacements that are better for the environment. I'm sure there are some equally nice paper pulp derived versions. Replacing plastic is a great idea but not with something that harms the environment even more and it's not easily replenishable.

Just went out for a walk in the woods and let me tell you our fall colours are popping so hard this year! We've also had some mild temperatures that allowed all of the flora to slowly and gracefully transition into their amber colours! We've lost out a little this year. There's still some color, but we were so dry this year, a lot of things just gave up and dropped their leaves. Plus, it was still in the 80s in mid October and now, it's 20. So, I think everything else is just confused. Last year was a beautiful fall.

About 40 years ago, I remember from The Victory Garden that planting roses and tomatoes together help each other reach their max potential because roses LOVE acid and will draw the acid from the tomato plants, and the tomatoes will be sweeter with less acid. I've been telling my friends this for YEARS and those who grow roses and tomatoes have tried it and LOVE it! Some of them gave me some of their tomatoes to try and it is SO true! The tomatoes are DELICIOUS and so much better!

That... doesn't make much sense to me. Tomatoes like slightly acidic soil, as do roses. There's no way that roses can "suck" the acidity out of tomatoes and somehow infuse it into it's own soil. The only real reason to plant those together is because there's some evidence to show that chemicals in the tomato leaves help prevent roses from getting black spot. Maybe the reason the tomatoes taste better (than what exactly? Did you also try tomatoes from the same variety planted far away from roses?) is simply because home-grown tomatoes have the genes for taste, as compared to store tomatoes, which are longer-storing, but have lost that deliciousness we love tomatoes for.

Have you ever thought about allowing artists from a close college to come over for a day to paint or draw the flowers of a certain area? Your building that is being built now, might be a fun place for them to use to create a work of art from your flower garden area.

I like that you changed your mind on having more needy plants in the South garden! I like roses mixed into beds rather then an all rose garden. In fact when we watch the show Bones there is a rose garden at the beginning of many scenes and I always comment to my poor family how yucky I think it looks. 🤣 Thanks for a great video again!!

I live in 5 zone still planting roses since it’s so cheap to buy them now. I’m going to bury almost whole roses so it helps to prevent them from freezing. Hopefully they will survive till next year. Good luck you all and don’t afraid to plant them till stable cold temperatures ✌🏻

Here in our Zone 3 we bury the graft union 4 to 6" so the plant survives. If the graft union is above ground the plant will generally freeze out

I've got a couple bags of soil for just that purpose. I'm in zone 4b. I noticed the soil has washed away on a number of my shrubs so will top off all of them. I created a berm by hauling about 50 bags of soil. The old saying is true, what goes up must come down.

I have started cleaning out containers as the plants wither, putting away empty containers & doing my Fall clean up getting ready for those winter months! Glad you are able to still plant this late in the season!! I agree with on burying the graph, makes senses to give the graphed rose stability! I just want to say I really enjoy your videos, I have learned so much & changed the way I garden! Thank you for sharing your knowledge & family time with us! 😃🍁🍂💚🌿
