It actually depends on your age. When you're in your twenties to mid 30s, you can make that move. But when you have entered 40s, it's going to be quite difficult except you enter as a skilled professional. That's my take.

I was reasoning from the angle of being able to have access to the system easily when you have papers. If you have money in Nigeria, you can handle it with a decent survival chance. You don't need to ship your bloodline to the West just because you might meet the random misfortune of a serious illness. To each his own though.

That is one of the problems of we Nigerians we commonize the effort other people are putting into the society, thinking only a certain jobs is good enough. No job is greater than the other . If only the pilot can do everything there will be no need for air hostels and other stuffs at the airport from ticketing to checking in of passengers to boarding them to controlling the path of the aircraft The work of the pilot is not different from the work of the uber driver they are both transporting people from one loaction to another, Stupid ways of thinking, that commonize everything, your car maker is a mechanic, your plane builder is also a mechanic , yet we call them a common mechanic in nigeria, and if our car broke down we go looking for them Bad mentality. The work of the doctor is not different from the work of the mechanic, they are both reparing or trying to make either their human patients or car patients work. One repair cars the other repairs humans.

It is very common to see families of 4 living in one room, with wet walls plaques with mould COLD!!!. People work round the clock, living children unattended. If the system get hold of your children hummm opari oo!! next time you see your daughter she’ll tell you her name is John!. There are other issues too, black people still have the highest mortality rate in the west ask me what is pafukaring them!!! Stress, mental illness, systemic failure. Black women have the highest mortality rate in terms of pregnancy outcome. When “ povid” struck blacks in the west had the highest mortality rate! All I can say is all that glitters is not gold. If you can negotiate a job were you can work seasonally make foreign money then come home do that. I know nurses dat work agency jobs in England, US or Dubai they work 3 months come back and then go back. Poverty in Nigeria hits different o. Poverty in the west hummm dat one get phd in mental torment.

Fela was talking about what our Africans leaders are doing over here (western world) everyone think he's just a weed smoker.. The outcomes of what he's saying is what make people over there JAPA with no meanings and end up in a deep shit.. UK urber is a big man job (20 to 30 grands per annum with pension still) people can afford a mortgage with urber/taxi jobs here etc and moreover you need to live in UK for a period of time to obtain the bloody licence. Our leaders do come over here for their own benefits and they don't give a shit about the citizens, my boss once told me that he doesn't see any tangible reasons for any Nigerian to come over for better life, Nigeria is one of the most richest country in the world, we are blessed. Now Nigerian passport is degrading.. Singaporeans never had Nigerian wealth and this 2 countries were colonised by Britain and Singapore is 3 times better than UK. Burkina Faso president, will place all them i mean all the Africans leaders where you they belong.. Also, How can you allow someone who's sleep walking who can't even standstill to be una president?? @J R I think you are missing the point. One does not put on one accent 3 days in a week, and another accent the rest of the week. It is an identity. An unnatural accent is inconsistent, can be somewhat high peached and difficult to maintain endlessly in conversations without the natural/original accent coming out every now and then whilst pronouncing words. The japa culture didn't just start yesterday. Africans associate being smart and sofisticated with having a foreign accent. That is why, for example, someone goes to study in Russia for their Master's degree for a year, and return to Nigeria with a British accent. Or study in China and comes back with an Australian + Canadian = American accent etc. Look at the media as another example. Majority of presenters put on accents, as if it is a prerequisite to securing a job. We mock our own indigenous accents as being local. A British man living in Nigeria for 30 years will still sound British, even if he emigrated as a youth or born there. He will associate with his kind to ensure he maintains his roots.

He probably makes more money but that’s not the point. The point is cost of living is expensive. Japa is not for some who is living comfortably in Nigeria, it’s affordable to people who where struggling back home and are mostly single. Abroad isn’t heaven or a place here u pick money on the ground as most of y’all think

This content get as e be. No person in Nigeria, with big house in Lekki, big cars, and a decent job, can just uproot and japa like that. I don’t know how old this story is, but a Uber job is not something you get without the requisite papers. Besides, a Uber job is cushiony. You decide how much you want to work, when you want to work, and where you want to work. If this guy could check his ego at the door, he could make a killing being Uber driver. So, no cause for alarm.

@@SassyFunke That explains why he is unable to get a good job out there. Just like you said, he would have allowed his wife and kids to go first so that he can survey the area even he could be coming from time to time to see if they were opportunities out there before making that decision to JAPA!!!! I too have a friend in that predicament and at this point he is confused because he has sold his business and it has been 5 years so to pick up from where he started; it is really tough for him
