​@@RedBroski Yes, but they are low level as victor airways are for between 1,200 feet above ground level and flight level 180, or 18,000 feet, they are navigated using VOR's, whereas Tango airways are navigated by GPS

By the way the British guy who flew the plane to Spain was entirely qualified as he worked for the airline and got permission from them beforehand when the pilot didn’t show up

it can withstand a nuclear blast. it doesn't mean its rated to handle a bird strike. like, Roaches can survive too, but they are not rated to survive a shoe. always check the fine print. just because your house is covered for all natural disasters, doesnt mean its covered from "acts of God" (almost certain that does exist in contracts)

0:19 not duct tape, it's a thermal aluminium tape commonly called "speed tape" and is used for minor non-critical repairs, as well as for improving the aerodynamics by hiding that gap and covering the rivets. Most likely that front ring part of the turbofan engine was replaced or serviced and the technician is covering the now exposed rivets.

As long as you have someone walking you through it, you've got a decent chance at bringing the plane in manually without killing anyone. But it's actually easier than that, because modern planes have autopilot systems that can handle the landing on their own, so you only have to input the specific commands ground control gives you, and hope that there isn't a malfunction which you need a trained pilot to solve.

Mhmm, ATC will connect you with a pilot for that airliner brand and they will walk you through setting up a direct route in the flight management system (FMC) to the nearest airport with either an ILS or LOC runway and will set you up for an auto-landing. Landing an airliner is much easier than a small single engine Cessna.

@@viktoranderas9541 It's more than pushing some buttons, but for the most part, the average person can do this IF they can follow instructions. However, there are still many jets out there with manual thrust levers meaning autoland can't happen. Just be sure you fly on a Boeing or an Airbus and you'll be fine! #TeamAirbus

Same. The only thing the simulator really can't train us for is if we are lost in clouds and have to rely on the instruments. Most people will become disoriented and... unfortunately stall the aircraft.

I'm surprised you are unfamiliar with detachable cabins they are a (stupid) concept for speeding up air travle, they have you take your seats separately meaning fewer aircraft can fly more quickly, just time to swap pilots and refule then it's off again, it's supposed to save the industry billions

1:45 This is actually true. Flying a plane is really easy. Most of what a pilot learns in flight training is the regulations and procedures that make flying safe. So even without an Autoland system, you could land the plane with only ATC telling you what to do. There are several cases in general aviation where a passenger has landed after the pilot becomes incapacitated. That said, I'm not sure there has ever been a time where both pilots on an airliner have become incapacitated requiring a passenger to land.
