I like too off course. This song is amazing, Puccini was a fabulous compositor and Domingo a great tenor. But Pavarotti.... was awesome. Opera is not only Pavarotti i know and this art having many of great tenors, Barittons and sopranos. But..... Pavarotti and Callas are the top.

Excellent rendition. This was done when Domingo was young. He is now 82 years old and semi-retired but was one of the best Tenors of his time.

He followed Mario Lanza's style. Placido does it without looking like he's gasping for breath. Pavarotti always looks like he struggles to breath.
As for me, this is the most dramatic, emotional and passionate interpretation!

I'm amazed really. Several years ago I went to the Opera Theatre to see Tosca and I couldn't help crying. It's just amazing to express so much torture, unhappiness, pain in just music. I'm just amazed and especially this aria makes me cry. Just wonderful

This one is gorgeous, but Sergey Lemeshev’s interpretation beats all the others for me, so beautiful, dramatic and true to the character..

You will never find a better rendition of it. This is perfection. Exactly what it means to love and to love... her. To know it was the only thing that made you feel complete. It's a short aria in an opera, short and intense like a fragrance, like the flash of memories. It's an ode to the real love, a masterpiece, for eternity.

I love Placido's voice. I just came here binging on all past tenors doing this number. They are all great but still Placido gives me goosebumps all over with his warm vocals.
There is no better. The music and his voice soars together. Purely divine Placido & Puccini !

placido was always jealous of pavarotti, because he knew Luciano was the best tenor of all time, the head of Decca records said when you say tenor, you mean pavarotti, he is the benchmark that all others try to live up to and never will. the interviewer said, I dont think the other two tenors would like to hear that. he said, oh they know it and they agree with me. so no, this is not better than anyone. why would you put such compliments to a sexual deviate and a purveyor of child prostitution hes disgusting.

apparently you have never heard Luciano pavarotti, domino was always jealous of him and copied everything he did . the palace wanted pavarotti to sing at Dianas funerals, he said he could not......the grief was in his throat, doming o phoned and said I will sing. they said no thank you. he became pushy, they said the princess was not a fan of yours. maybe she didnt like the fact that he is a user of child prostitues and molested most of his duet partners, 15 women came forward.

Plácido Domingo es una de las mejores voces de la historia. Los que se hacen llamar cantantes hoy día, deberían de al menos sentir vergüenza porque lo suyo es marketing, en cambio Plácido o Pavarotti dignifican a la humanidad con su voz y talento

I was 20 years old,1970.. Saturday afternoon...driving around listening to WQXR-NYC live from Lincoln Center...this came on and I had to pull the car off the road!

He escuchado muchas interpretaciones de esta obra maestra : caruso ,pavarotti,Gigli Del Mónaco Bjorling etc. pero ninguna como la de Domingo con tanto dramatismo, entrega y pasión .

What an unbelievable moving piece of music presented with such a stellar voice. Placido Domingo's version of this masterpiece is the zenith of operatic perfection. This is to Domingo, what Nessun Dorma is to Pavarotti.

Not really. Domingo's Nessun Dorma is better than Pavarotti's. If you chage it for Corelli's Nessun Dorma I buy it, though.

@@rvasquez8057, I think it's about the voice and the character. I usually don't like Pavarotti because, in my view, he was not a very good actor. However his performance as Tonio was, at least vocally, legendary. His Calaf, on the other hand, was too light in my opinion and on the stage, let's say, unnecessary.

Rich E he’s better than Caruso in my opinion. Caruso just got the “primacy effect.” I don’t actually think he would be that special if he was a tenor today. He would have one on domingo when it comes to powerful high notes, but that’s about it.
