Pizza from Mister Donut & Hojicha Doughnut | Critical Roll 4
Ойын-сауық
So Mister Donut has been selling pizzas, and I had to go check them out. They call them pizzatas.
Are they any good, or should they just stick to selling doughnuts?

They call that donut the Pon de Ring. It's made with tapioca flour and wheat flour.

Ah, tapioca, is that it? I knew there was something different about them...
Bing!!! Lol great video Paul! Pizza from a doughnut shop.. nice

Should I go back for the spaghetti or hot dogs? ;)
I was quite literally about to comment about the Tim Hortons pizza! It ticks me right off. Instead of bringing back any favourites, improving their existing menu or working on quality control, they decide a coffee shop is a good place for... pizza?! I'm sure it tastes fine, maybe slightly better than a cheap frozen pizza, but it might be the worst marketing ploy I've ever seen 😂 They want to increase lunch sales but keep taking away the items people actually enjoy for rice bowls, "crispy" chicken sandwiches and pizza.
@CriticalEatsJapan

I can't speak on the quality since I haven't had Tim's recently, but I do like it when places try to innovate and bring out new items ---though yeah, it does suck when favourites dissappear. Mister Donut here also carries spaghetti and hot dogs... ;)

There is a certain Tim Hortons location in Canada, that is used to "test new items" for marketing & popularity response, before those items are rolled out to all store locations. I'm guessing they had positive responses. We don't have Tim Hortons in my area, but look forward to it if I ever travel to the east coast of the US or Canada.😎👍
It would've been cool if they had tried to make the pizza on the donut itself, kinda like a bagel, if not chedar or mots they could use something like phillidepha chease
@CriticalEatsJapan

Yeah, though that would probably be confusing to the Japanese I think. There is a bagel shop I have heard of but never been too ---apparently it is just OK
There is something lonely for long time gamers when we roll dice and no one is there to laugh at our failure or cheer our success. I guess I just associate dice rolling with friends, family and fun

I associate the clack of dice with back alleys, cheap malt liquor and a sense of certain danger. The good ol’ days.

@@Invincible_Force LOL I gambled on tables in a Mississippi River biker bar. That is where 3 of the eight times my nose was broken happened. Ah good times, good times.

I do like having a guest join me when I do this, but this time it was unavoidable and I didn't want to put it off too much longer. Hopefully next time ;)
It's always important to be by a machine that goes "bing"! Especially if you're in hospital
Kind of reminds me of the pizza slices I've gotten from small bakeries there. Probably more bread-adjacent than a regular pizza slice, but still pretty good. I can get down with a houjicha donut, but Misdo won me over pretty well when I was there. I'll give anything they have a shot. 😅

They definitely knew they couldn't call it an actual pizza ;)
Wow! This is their donuts with a pizza-esque donut. Reminds me of the Family Mart Pizza pan. Hopefully you can find a margarita one as well
@CriticalEatsJapan
Ай бұрын
A little better than a konbini pizza... but yeah, the margarita one would have been even better I'm sure!👍

@@CriticalEatsJapan wow better.
I was hoping to see that it was a pizza made with a larger regular donut. Maybe Mister Donut should just stick with donuts? I'm only kidding, but maybe if they baked it a little longer it might've been tastier. If you asked nicely, would they stick it back it in the oven for a second "bing"?
@CriticalEatsJapan
Ай бұрын
Now that would have been good. Though I'm not sure if they undercooked it or that it how it was just meant to be... by the time I noticed the flop there was no going back though ;)
some things are just worse in japan.. bacon..pizza..burger patties
@CriticalEatsJapan

Doughnuts... well, at least they have a bunch of other good stuff to counter those ;)
The pizza has possibilities, but it would involve adding toppings after itis done

I wish I could have tried the other one, but to be honest it was actually better than I thought it might be... ;)

@@CriticalEatsJapan I always go into pizza with the thought it has to be better than Dominoes used to be.
Too bad Japan doesn't have legal pot. The stoners would love to pick up a pizza and donuts at the same place. That pizza looked pretty anemic.
@CriticalEatsJapan

They'd probably think it was the best thing they'd ever tasted too... ;)
Like squad! 👍 Loved the Shaka Shaka I won last time. They both were interesting flavours. I liked them a lot. Cheers!

Thanks so much. Glad you had fun trying them👍
Pizzatta wasn't delicious as pizza. When I ate it, staff used a microwave oven to warm it. So it was very soft due to steam. If I didn't ask the staff to warm it, the pizzata would be delicious as a pizza bread. This is just my opinion.
@CriticalEatsJapan

No, they definitely can't call it a real pizza. But wait, you had to ask to get it heated up? That sucks
Oh wow you live in Japan that is my dream holiday. I have been to the United States. I have been to Europe and this year. Finally I am going to go to Japan in September with my family.

Would have definitely been awesome if it was a bit crispier. Didn’t look bad though! Fun concept though :)

I love cheese, so it looked good to me. The donut looked chocolatey, it was disappointing to hear it tasted of tea. That would not be my choice.
@CriticalEatsJapan
Ай бұрын
I tried to get most chocolaty one, but yeah, more like roasted tea... :(
The pizza looks tasty even if it's not crispy but right now the donut is what I'm in the mood for. PS: Bummer about the donut not being a winner.
@CriticalEatsJapan

Yeah, for me those types of doughnuts are not as good as the yeast ones...
🤘🏻😎🤘🏻 Awesome stuff, dude
I'd have to pass on the pizza. It reminded me of the stuff we used to get for lunch in elementary school. Haha Great when you're a kid, but not so great as an adult. However, I would love to try the donut. It looked very similar to a mochi donut that I recently tried for the first time.

I wonder what people would say if we ever had something like this as part of our school lunch ;)
I imagine the pizza would be better with pepperoni.

Pepperoni would have definitely made it seem more like a pizza than a toasted cheese sandwich ;)

It was tasty, but not really pizza... :(
That looked a bit rubbish for the money but u then if I was at the donut shop with a friend I might go for that because I'm not into donuts but you really peaked my interest with the matcha because that's a flavour I like
YUM!😎👍

lol thats very floppy pizza

Looks like cheap frozen pizza that wasn’t cooked long enough, very sad 😢. Donut looked much better, even though I’m not a big matcha fan either. Pity they were only ok tasting though

The pizza was pretty soft, but overall much better than a frozen pizza. As for the doughnut, I could have got something I knew would be more my taste but just had to try the new thing for the viewers... Gotta do my duty ;)
