ITALIAN CHATPATE ALOO
Preparation time : 10 minutes
Cooking time : 20-25 minutes
Servings : 2
Ingredients
2 tbsp Oil (तेल)
5-6 cloves Garlic - chopped (लहसुन)
1 fresh Green Chilli - chopped (हरी मिर्च)
1 inch Ginger - chopped (अदरक)
2 cups Baby Potatoes (छोटे आलू)
½ tsp Chilli Flakes (चिल्ली फ्लेक्स)
½ tsp Dried Oregano (सूखे अजवायन)
½ tsp crushed Coriander Seeds - lightly toasted (कूटा हुआ धनिया)
Salt to taste (नमक स्वादानुसार)
¼ tsp Turmeric Powder (हल्दी पाउडर)
a few Mint Leaves - roughly torn (पुदीने के पत्ते)
¼ tsp Dried Oregano (सूखे अजवायन)
½ small Lemon Juice (नींबू का रस)
For Garnish
fresh Mint Leaves (पुदीने के पत्ते)
Lemon Wedges (नींबू की फांकिया)
Process
- In a kadai heat oil and add ginger, garlic, green chillies saute them for half a minute.
- Then add baby potatoes, chilli flakes, dried oregano, crushed coriander seeds, salt, turmeric powder and mix everything well.
- Sprinkle some water and cover, let it cook completely on medium heat.
- Once potatoes are cooked, add mint leaves, dried oregano, lemon juice and give it a final mix.
- Remove in a serving bowl and garnish with mint leaves and lemon wedges.

Hi! I'm Italian! I love this recipe and a I'm gonna try to do it. Usually we do not cook with coriander or turmeric, but I'm sure they are perfect with potatoes. Thank you for mentioning extra virgin olive oil ( one of our excellences) and for not cutting basil with a knife as the rest of the world do (wanna kill them!)! This is very very Italian! May I say something? We use to add basil and oregano only after cooking. Especially basil, that change taste too much while cooking. Love your recipe. Bravo! Bravissimo!

You can use parsley instead of coriander and/or you can go to an Indian store around. You’ll definitely get it

@@jimmyjim45 The chef is asking to use a particular oil for a particular recipe. Not at all degrading the use of extra virgin olive oil. Probably you don't know different kind of oils are used for different kind of recipes. Probably you know only one type of oil. 😜😂😂😂

Thanks for sharing the history of Aloo. 👌👌 In reality, “Aaloo” is a “kand” not a “Subzi” , because sabzi comes from “Subz” means green in color. All greens and colorfull veggies growing above the ground are true veggies. No doubt Aloo is overused in recipes and liked by all. The downside is too much fried potato leads to health-related issues. So the moral story is mix a lot of greens with aloo and keep “aloo chhilka.”

I am the person who don't know how to cook other than maggi, preparing coffee and small small dish items. But recently for the first time I tried cooking and the first dish was ur dish that is ITALIAN CHATPATA ALOO. What I did was instead of using baby potato I diced the potatoes to cubes and guess what I am the person who don't know to cook but surprisly the fish came out super and fantastic and tasty. My parents loved it. Thank u so much for showing this recipe.🙏🏻🙏🏻 Now I can say that I know a bit about cooking haha 😄 😁😅😜

Yes.. absolutely right, asli Maza Chhilke ke Sath he. In Gujarat, kathiyad region (Rajkot, junagadh..etc places) Yaha pe hum log Chhilke wale Aaloo ki sabji banate he....with lots of garlic and red chilli powder..(super spicy)...with masala buttermilk. ..with Bajra Ka rotla.. And this is our kathiyad's special dish....
