I am about to buy the pixl-latr and two things I see being super good about it: the light diffuser in the back and the guard against light leak from the sides. Nice video and oh I do need to practice more with Cinestill to get results like seen here.

Yeah I like the light defuser the guard doesn’t work too well for my setup, it’s more designed for people using an iPad or a light table. Good luck with the CineStill!

Wow! Thanks for the tip! I'm sure I'm going to get one. BTW I'm on Linux and i use Rawtherapee negative tool to process my negs. It's an excellent tool, free and cross platform. In other words, available for everyone who wants to use it. Another software, a bit simpler but uses the the same tool is ART.

btw just found out from grainydays' scanning video coments section that Essential Film Holder is a good one to try as well. it looks very well built, not sure how it would compare to the pixl latr but it seems more sturdy

Finally got the last piece of this puzzle (the macro lens), so now watching videos so I can “Scan”. Is there a good reason to not cut the negs first? I don’t have a lot of room for full developed rolls so I prefer to sleeve them.

You can cut them or not cut them. It’s a long roll of film to work with if you don’t cut them and might be sliding on the table getting scratches or something. But some people do it! Up to you

the closer the diffused panel is to the film the more in focus any scratches or defects will be.

Hey there! I had my Sony A7iii tethered to the computer using the Sony imaging app. Was firing it and saving it directly to the computer without an SD card. I have not tried that scanner! should give it a whirl! Glad i can help and thanks for watching!

Tethering in LR is so easy. Go to tether from the menu once you’re plugged in. I have the same camera.
