The ‪@pivotcyclesusa‬ Shuttle LT is a bike we’ve spent a lot of time on in the past year. Between our 2023 eMTB Shootout in which it picked up an award for its versatility and our eMTB Destinations Tour, it’s safe to say we know and enjoy this eMTB a lot. However, the eBike market moves fast, so we were interested to see how the upgraded Shimano EP801-equipped Shuttle LT would fare against 13 of the hottest electric mountain bikes on the market. It’s safe to say this Pivot is still a sweet rig, but check out this review and the Finale round table to see where it shines and how it stacks up.

    Great Review! 2022 Shuttle LT was my 1st emtb. I thought I was nuts spending all that hard earned money for it and if this is "too much of a bike I need". Best investment ever! Now with 2500 riding miles in, still thankful I got this Shuttle. I recently picked up a Shuttle AM but I have to say, I always pick my trusted LT to take me on my adventures.

    These reach numbers are getting crazy. I’m getting sized out of bikes. Now I’m in between a small and medium when 4 years ago it was medium- large.

    unfortunately Paul, you and many others don't understand that you shouldn't just look at reach numbers and decide it is too big for you; not to worry, the guys at the loom wolf make the same mistake, never realising that they are conservative riders and not designers and/or engineers; the mistake you and those like you make is believing you know better than those said engineers; these bikes are not simply larger in reach and that's it; reach and all other dimensions and characteristics are made to complement each other and they work as intended when you stop thinking you know better and start using the bike as per how its designers and engineers conceived it to work; not smaller, not bigger, no nothing. When ppl will stop thinking they know better as the actual ppl that do know better, we will all be in a happier spot; until then, I can only recommend you to use the size(and actually the whole bike) as per its design and not based on observation or references made whatever years ago; those bikes were designed differently with different characteristics in mind; these bikes are different as well, being based on different sets of said characteristics. just open your eyes and understand why the current bikes are built this way and for which type of trails/riding they have been designed. Just because a bike, from two generations ago, with the same brand and the same name worked for your riding style and for the terrain you're riding, does not mean the current ones would or should do the same.

    @@eugenuxI think you’re forgetting the biomechanics of the human body, how we make torque through the frame, and what is sustainable for years of hard riding. I understand your point and don’t disagree but, there are very valid reasons for wanting a smaller bike. Im between Small and medium bikes with most brands and ride small bikes to have something a bit more playful while still getting the benefits of well engineered geometry. If I wanted to race, I’d ride mediums. It’s about personal taste as much as engineering. Happy trails!

    I think more brands need to start looking at reach adjustment like guerrilla had and the new v10 has. Sometimes the bike you ride for everything can end up wanting a little different in a different place as mentioned. For me at 6ft I have bikes at 475 reach and they work great for my local SC trails however I just did a trip all the way up to whistler and worked back down. At whistler was probably one of the few times made me question would I like a little longer bike as near the end of day my lower back was getting sore and if I’d stretch out then I’m too weighted up front etc. So having a bike just for park is fine if you’re going a lot but otherwise can’t be justified however if more manufacturers started doing reach adjustment then it could take that one bike take a bit of time before leaving to tweak the setup and you’re good for the day. I’m hoping maybe that becomes the next trend so smaller size gaps between sizes too.

    I have owned a Decoy, Norco range 2020, commercial meta power 29 and currently own a yeti 160e and gen 3 Levo. the Pivot shuttle LT is hands down the best and my most favorite bike I have ever ridden. I love that thing! At 6 ft, I love the dimensions of the size large, but that is, like you all said, personal preference.

    Great review and content guys. I think from an all round geo perspective you need to possibly consider where manufacturers are based. Pivots backyard being a place where agility is required due to the trails being a combination of loose terrain and some nasty chunk being common place. However, wouldn’t wheelbase be the key here for overall balance. Could the reach be tuned based on stem length variations?

    Absolutely! And that's why we applaud brands who build bikes for what they know and ride. It's why a brand like Norco builds bikes that do really well in BC. Does that mean they don't perform well other places? No, but there's certainly something to be said for region-specific traits both in geo and suspension platforms and shock tunes! It's a reason consumers are so lucky, they can pick the bike that suits them best.

    Been looking at this and a Timp Peak to supplement my Sentinel (which I absolutely love - burly yet lively and just plain fun to ride...). Am I looking at the right bikes? And is this worth the premium over the $7K Timp Peak (with RockShox Select+ suspension)?

    The two bikes perform very similarly. The larger battery in the Pivot provides quite a bit more range, but also adds weight. I feel the battery is the deciding factor between the two.

    No mention of Auto shift with Ep801 and Shimano Di2? Still think the Yeti should be a contender here .

    This build didn't have Di2, so it didn't have the Auto Shift feature. We don't disagree, the Yeti is a solid bike, however not all the brands we requested bikes from were interested or able to send us bikes. And most of our riders preferred the Pivot over the Yeti (even if slightly) the last time we had it in for testing.

    We tend to focus more on ride quality, frame quality and customer support, then spec is the icing on the cake....WHEN you're at the final level of picking between two fine machines, of course.
