I sailed my ⛵ boat by Pitcairn Island in 1997, a Ingrid 38' "Solitude." The weather was far to rough to land, or go ashore. I spoke with someone on VHF 16, they didn't seem to be too friendly. So I 🐟 fished, dropped my lobster trap. There was plenty of Ono (Wahoo) and Yellow Fin Tuna. The lobster trap was full. I drifted in the Lee of the island for a week. Home canning jars of the best food imaginable!! Those were the days.

Wow!! More than half the island went to the ship. I hope they were fed!!

yes, they were fed. Actually, all but seven people came to visit us on the ship.

Been there via ship from new zealand..we delivered some stuffs for the people there...some of the people there came on board with some merchandise..souvenirs eg..barter is their common way of trading stuffs...then we sailed for the US..😊😊

Yes, we purchased honey and several crafts. They set up their crafts in a theatre for all to come check out and buy.

It would be an absolute dream for someone with enough money to build an off grid home. I live in far west Texas. There is no water or electricity south of me. A lot of people build unique homes powered by solar. Use rain catchment systems for water. I’m not that clever. However, even though it’s a remote area. It’s capable of having things delivered. I looked on amazon and they do ship to Pitcairn. It said 22-30 days regular shipping. 2 weeks for faster shipping and 5-7 days for expedited shipping. I’m wondering how they manage that if they are dependent on boats from NZ every 3 months for mail and supplies. Maybe you have to order in the window of the boats?!
