Pitcairn Island (Adamstown) - Lonely but beautiful

Adamstown is the only settlement on the Pitcairn Islands.
The Pitcairn Islands are the last British Overseas Territory in the South Pacific Ocean.
Of the four islands only Pitcairn is inhabited. At the time of filming there were only 48 permanent inhabitants. Accordings to the World Factbook Pitcairn is the least populous national jurisdiction in the world.
The island is inhabited mostly by descendants of the Bounty mutineers, as retold in many books and films.

Place is a pedophiles haven. In 2004 half the island's adult males were arrested for raping underage girls. And to prove how messed up that place is. Underage means under 12 there, and breaking that has a sentence of 100 days in the chalet they built for a prison. 31 woman testified. Even the mayor was involved. www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/news/world/australasia/pitcairn-the-island-of-fear-424862.html%3famp

~Warning, I use Sarcasm here~ hasse Siemonsdochter You realize that was like..13 years ago? Dang, guess the saying people deserve a second chance isn't true, huh? Especially since it wasn't the whole community, let's just blame them all for fun. Hell, Nadine Christian has 5 kids, (pretty sure she's the Mayor's wife if I'm correct but she's a citizen) and i definitely think she would rather keep her children safe. Oh wait no, because nobody there cares about kids huh?

To a landlubber like me who is used to living in the Nevada desert this place looks so beautiful, lush and frankly scary. Being all alone and surrounded by water with no lifeline if you are severely injured or very ill are things that i could not get used to. If you are born and raised on this island or other secluded islands, you have gotten used to these conditions and would probably hate living where most of us live. I am a person who loves to get away from crowds, but this is too much for me. Beautiful, but forbidding.

I think it's helpful to point out because I tend to err on the side of everyone sucks, reality is cruel, and I should murder everyone and commit suicide, and then I think, why not use these enormous powers of reasoning for good? Why not?

Dark troubled history and uncertain future aside, this is a beautiful collection of footage. Not a person in sight, just island flora and roads and remnants from the Bounty. Filmed from different heights around the island, they offer many different views of homes and the sea. Pitcairn's dwindling work force (and no future births) may compel the remaining islanders to relocate to New Zealand, so pictures and filming might as well continue while there is still opportunity.

You don't wanna raise a family here. Look up the 2004 trials. And then consider Jamestown St. Helena, or Tristan Da Cunha, or the Azores, Cabo Verde, take your pick. Any of them will be better Pitcairn.

Your history has always fascinated (even before modern wi fi ) Are there any ancestors of the original Tahitian couples alive? Or was infanticide practiced on the Island? I have only heard of it once in my studies.

Believe me I would love to smash them all but I sure in the hell wont let a piece of shit chomo keep me from enjoying paradise. So get over your shit and don’t take children and enjoy the beauty and if you must smash a couple chomo’s on your way out!!! LMAO

Totally agree with you on this one badams075. People are so ignorant. I've watched all the doccos. I've many Aussie and Kiwi friends who know more about the issues. There's always many sides to a story. If you've never had poor judgment or never done anything wrong in your life, then you can be justified in posting vitriol like that. Don't depend on media for your info. I'd jump at the chance to go there.
