Not super happy with the amount of smoke this grill produces so after some research I decided to run some tests of my own. The results are compiled in a chart at the end of the video.
Chart Legend:
Minutes/Seconds - Time between auger activation for a given pid setting
Ambient Temp - Outside air temperature around grill
Set Temp - Temperature grill control is set to
Grill Temp - Actual temperature inside of grill
Smoke - Level of smoke produced for each pid setting
Other Information:
The auger runs for 18 seconds on any pid setting.

I’m new to the pellet smoking community. Bought my Pit Boss Classic from Walmart have been excited about using it! For years I used a Mastercraft propane wood chip smoker. Not the greatest, but I learned how to make do. Been wanting a pellet smoker for quite sometime and I noticed the same issues that you are describing. I thought about tackling a steel plate with some holes drilled in it across the top of the igniter pot. Something that would disperse the heat across before it hit the actual drip guard. I’m sure that would change the temperature range and just like you, I don’t want to chop up a brand new grill. I wonder if an adjustable fan would work? Something with a voltage regulator to adjust the speed of the fan… Anyway, I’m 3beers and 2hrs into watching how this grill works and probably no where near qualified to be making comments about engineering modifications of something I know nothing about 😅 Just a guy that stumbled upon your experience with the same grill I have.

Great I just bought one of these and was wondering how to produce more smoke and am thinking I should have bought a wood smoker. Well I've only had it for 1 month and a half and can return it to Walmart for a refund

The PID settings really work well. The temp control is stellar. I'll be making another vid soon on how to get even more smoke flavor from a cheap Temu item. Overall, I'm very happy with this particular smoker.
