Nice to have an airplane you can all travel together in. Very scenic video!

What a beatifull fly, beatifull family and beautifull plane... enjoy see the plane details, panel, with the instrument alive, cabin, and walk around. Always so nervous when fly from Nevada County to the valley (pasing Tahoe Lake).

Nice trip. Thanks for letting us tag along. Interesting -when you switch fuel tanks, I see you didn't use your elec. fuel pump. I had an engine shut down doing that, and quickly switched the tank back and did a precautionary landing to check it out. Re-reading the check list " fuel pump on - switch tanks -fuel pump" off. Live and learn - thankfully.

Well - I didn't know about the use of boost pump when switching. Thank you. I re-read the manual, and see it in there. Lesson learned!

@@JamesGood well it's not something us Ercoupe /Aircoupe pilots need to do in our birds. But I have found on most other aircraft with fuel tank selectors, they want to have the boost pump on when switching. cheers

Maybe Mono Lake is warmer, resulting in more "steam fog"?

That's my guess, but I couldn't find any temperature data online for Mono. I'm guessing it has hot springs feeding it?

James, I am growing more and more jealous. I love my "Coupe but am wanting to get back into something with more capability (i.e., range, useful load, seats). At my age and employment status (retired) though I'm having trouble justifying the expense.

Hey Randy. The Warrior is an amazing machine, but I do miss traveling with 'vintage Coupe style' when I'm in it! I guess I kinda like the attention the polished vintage machine gets, over the more efficient, utilitarian form of the Warrior.

I think our Warrior is a great mix of reliable, simple design (fixed gear, fixed prop, manual flaps, great engine). It's a little faster than the Coupe (25mph), and carries us all, with luggage. Can't complain about that. I do miss the vintage appeal of the Coupe though, when flying the Warrior. Thanks again for commenting!

18:19 Ah, the NTC. My old stomping grounds. That's Tieford Mountain off in the distance and the Bicycle Lake dry lake bed and military airstrip just below it. You can make out the Ft. Irwin main post just below and to the right of the lake bed.

great pictures as usual! But don´t be unfaithful to your ercoupe, except you are travelling with your lady and the young gentleman. :-) PA28 is e fine plane, beside the single door for four.... for me a personal no-go.

The Coupe gets exercized as often as possible, usually once or twice a week. It's like driving a little MG compared to the 'station wagon' that is the Warrior. They are both nice! The single door is a bit of a pain, but I guess it saves weight.

Lone Pine looks a lot nicer in real life! Been there several times on X-Plane, LOL. James, do you know if they allow RV camping there? Nice video!

I don't know, but you could probably give them a call. It's a nice family that runs the airport. There's certainly space to do so, but not sure if it's encouraged, there might be FAA reasons not too?

In the beginning it says "70 year old flying machine". I'm confused, as the Warrior was first produced in 1974.

Yes, sorry, I need to change the intro for Warrior videos. My Ercoupe, for which I do the most videos, is 75 now, so I should really update that as well.

Great video. Fab sightseeing for us from the comfort of our lounge. The Warrior proving its worth there. Splendid 'tache 👌🏽 Is the heater good? What's its range compared to the Ercoupe? How about fuel consumption? Cheers!

The heater is a foot burner! It heats up pretty good using air blown around the heat shroud on the exhaust. It also has good cold air vents, so you can mix it pretty well. The range is huge on this, it has 48 gallons useable. I'm currently planning on 8gph. So it's something like a 5 hour range (at 120mph) with an hour reserve, not that my bum would let me fly that long!

No, not in the Warrior. It's still in the Ercoupe. The Warrior has a Status ESG in it, nice to have it built in!

@@JamesGood Hi James, the one and only surviving Percival Petrel is being rebuilt to airworthy condition here in the UK, at Seething Airfield in Norfolk.

Beautiful traveling aircraft ! Is there any way you can take care of the 'scratchy' mikes... or is that pretty tough ($) ? Love the east side of the Sierras !

James, has anyone told you that with the tash you look like the late Bill Paxton in 'True Lies'?
