Short video to show how I repaired a sticky/gummy autostop mechanism on my Pioneer RT-707 Reel-to-Reel deck. Same mechanism is also on the RT-701. Hope you find it helpful.

This end of tape device is very reliable and needs very little service unless it gets sticky. Much more reliable than the photo-optic system on my Revoxes. One tiny shot of lube should do it. Work it in. More than one shot sends spray everywhere. I use an eye-dropper to control the amount of lube. Cheap and available at Walmart.

I bought a 701 today at estate sale, wanted one for 40 years or so. It has a different problem but I'm watching all the repair videos now. You used deoxit d5 as cleaner? Got any recommendations for lube oil. Thanks for the video.

@@litzdog911Wow, near zero response time. Sewing oil is what I'd use, thanks for the confirmation. Everything works except pinch tire is now a slick. I'll get another and see what's on the 8 reels that came with the deck. Thanks for the video and the reply.

So I cleaned some parts using deoxit as you did, worked great. Now I'm replacing pinch roller tire. I have the tire mostly cut off. Any suggestions on removing the last little tire bits from the hub.

For any effect, I tell you that I have a lot of experience repairing RT-909 (Reel to Reel) , CT-9191 (Cassette Deck), CT-F1250 (Cassette Deck), PL-L1000 (tangential turntable), PL-L800 (tangential turntable), Pioneer SPEC-2 amplifiers and some other Vintage Pioneer components. If you have any questions, I would very much like to help you.

Hey, I have the Pioneer Rt- 701, I take the cover over once a year and blow the dust out and deoxit the pots, do I need to oil the motor? I not sure where the oil would go in the motor? I put a few drops in Teac 3300-10 motors, it showed it in the owner's manual where is goes, it has a small plastic tube where the oils goes.
