Tapos pagdating dito maraming challenges at maraming reklamo despite the fact na karamihan weren’t able to really do actual research kung ano kahihinatnan nila dito. Not to be negative pero the current situation is really bad here in Canada. The government made a lot of wrong decisions. If your reason for wanting to migrate to Canada is the healthcare, just to let you know, yes the healthcare is mostly government run but so far there are NO family doctors accepting new patients, and you need them to give you referral for specialist care. And if you do get your referral, you will be waiting 6 to 8 months to get checked. Even those needing emergency care would wait for more than 5 hrs to get checked. Everyone went to Canada for the healthcare, but no one in the Canadian government bothered to check if the health system can handle the volume. So yeah you don't pay much because it's paid via taxes, pero napakahaba ng pila. That's just one aspect, among all the other issues that uncontrolled migration caused to Canada.

True. Some medication at small expenses lang when my husband was flown sa Vancouver for heart surgery. There’s always positive and negative naman. Depende din kung ano gusto.

The Intl Student program was a failure for Canada. The intention was good but the govt was too naive to think this wasn’t going to be abused and be a backdoor for permanent residency. Greed took over instead and affected the housing costs, created more asylum seekers, abusive landlords, all kind of scams. It just created more problems. And, the integrity of the Cdn education definitely suffered. I think the govt steps to fix this is appropriate.

Why not just finish education in the Philippines and then apply for a job in US or other countries overseas? Why spend lots of own money and work minimum wage jobs and PR is not guaranteed? Lots of challenges, heartaches, and uncertainties in the student pathway. It is too stressful and cold in Canada and jobs available(if you can get a job) are low-paying, not enough to live on. Takes 2-3 jobs to barely survive in Canada? Why torture yourself, your spouse and your family? Filipinos should be focusing on making money and not spending money in Canada for a college degree that does not guarantee a job and PR status. If they can, go to US instead to work after finishing their education in the Philippines. Job opportunities are better in the USA, it is still the #1 economy in the world!

Pag May anak sila right away may makukuhang monthly allowance bawat anak. Tapos may chance pa to work full time ang partner nila. Which is actually really UNFAIR sa aming mga skilled economic visa holders na naghintay ng 6-7 years. Ang mga child benefits etc are supposedly for PR holders and Canadian citizens only. Alam natin maraming loopholes ang immigration policy ni Trudeau that’s why there has been increased influx of migrants sa Canada that caused ripple effects like housing crisis & food crisis. Dami nang homeless, drug addicts, staggering high rentals, food crisis (2M Canadians go to food bank every month), sky-rocketing grocery & food prices, pati gas, electricity & water napakamahal unlike 8 years ago. It’s like 360° turnaround ng canada, from one of the livable countries in the world into one of the worst. Sana mahimasmasan na yung mga nagbabalak.

The program is called Diversity Visa Lottery (US Dept of State website). A lot of students from African countries that I met in my undergraduate years got their PR via this program and still going. Let’s face it and let’s get direct to the point. When you pay money to come Canada as an international student, you are actually wanting to pay for a “non guaranteed” permanent residence status. That’s your actual purpose. The Canadian visa officer knows it, the Canadian immigration officer knows it before he stamps your approval of entry, and we all know it. The question is, if it’s still worth your money to “buy” permanent residency in Canada using this pathway?

The cost is too much to get a job and getting paid for $15/hr. Kailan pa mababawi ang pera na ininvest to get a job? Aside from the fact that loans are sky rocketed! car loan 8.9% / housing crisis and housing loans are now 10.1% interest rate per month. Honestly, moving to Canada may have been better 15-30 years ago but not now. Canada has had an immigration bubble since the Liberals were elected in 2015. ~1M people came to Canada in 2023 alone. That's not a sustainable number. As a newcomer, you're competing for SCARCE resources with other newcomers, "old-stock" Canadians and established immigrants as well. The government promised it would be to the benefit of the country but because of the artificial population growth in a short span, EVERYONE here is struggling economically.

Because of the influx of so many student visas granted and their eligibility to work here as well as their spouses, nahirapang maghanap ng work ang mga citizens and PRs. Yung mga ibang employers, nanlalabag rin ng batas by giving jobs to non citizens , even for retail jobs which should have accomodated its citizens first and foremost. Also rents are skyrocketing because of the demand for housing na dagdag pa mga international students. I meant, it’s not their fault, but the govt should be held liable for this chaos and broken system. I call it greed.

. . @@DaddyBones119 You just can't admit that Canada doesn't see filipinos as anything special and I'm right all along coz Canada doesn't even require VISAS from other nationalities from populated countries. And you cannot use supply and demand excuse kaya Canadian government gives lesser value to filipinos coz we are plenty. For example rice or even diamonds are plentiful but lesser demand and yet their value has never gone down. And many filipinos upon entering Canada are treated like 3rd class citizens. Your argument doesn't make sense that filipinos are valued and yet Canadian immigration obviously discriminates filipinos compared to many other nationalities. Mexicans, americans and Brunei citizens among many others can enter Canada VISA FREE and they are from populated countries who also frequent Canada if not more than filipinos. Its just that there's less filipinos allowed to enter Canada for obvious reasons that Canada only wants beautiful people to populate their nation and not the desperate filipinos. 🤣😂
