PPSA had the best and funniest of all the Clouseau-vs-Kato fight scenes they ever did. When it cuts to slo-mo, especially, god, I just die with laughter. It's easily the best of all the Pink Panther movies ever made. The whole Oktoberfest bit, where he cluelessly avoids getting assassinated by the world's greatest assassins was brilliant. It took me years to finally realize that Dreyfus was playing "Tiptoe Through The Tulips" on his organ when he winked out of existence (?) after getting zapped by his Death Ray. And that dismount from the parallel bars down that flight of stairs had me howling: "That felt good!" LOL And Dreyfus stepping on the rake -- FFFWHACKKK!!! Ah, Jesus! And, good gravy, wasn't Lesley Ann Down the sexiest woman on the big screen back in the '70s?

The tartan/plaid tweed business suit Clouseau is wearing in the first Sûreté office scene indicates that the scene of him lighting the waste bin on fire and putting it out with the fire sprinklers ("Nice weather we are having...") that appeared in _Trail_ was intended for _Strikes Again._ Except, the newspaper headlines from this film about Dreyfus being slated for his hearing were changed via inserts and pickups of Dreyfus and Francois about the Pink Panther diamond going missing for _Trail._

_The Pink Panther Strikes Again_ was originally going to be a three-hour epic in the vein of _It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World,_ but wiser heads prevailed and a good half hour was cut from the movie. Every scrap of that cut stuff was used to fake a new appearance by Sellers in 1982's _Trail Of The Pink Panther._ I believe the first 70s Panther flick was at first intended to be the pilot of a lavish TV series, too.
@Veyron722skyhook
Жыл бұрын
Think the original cut was actually only 2 hours, not 3. I could be wrong, but based on a few things I believe its more likely there never actually was a 3 hour cut, it was actually only 2 hours all along. I heard someone did a fanedit that took the Trail footage and inserted it back into Strikes Again, totaling at only around 2 hours. I myself experimented with that and got the exact same results. Although it is easily possible there's still an entire hour worth of stuff that's never been seen, it does beg the question why more of it wasn't used in Trail. 1 hour and 20 minutes is mostly an entire other movie after all. They could've easily made use of far more than just 20 minutes (which is the total amount of footage used in Trail) And even if there was indeed a 3 hour version, why has it never seen the light of day at all after so many decades as some kind of special edition or director's cut or something? It is possible that Strikes Again was CONCIEVED as a 3 hour movie, but ultimately they only filmed and edited a 2 hour version and that perhaps is where the confusion comes from that some people think the actual edit was 3 hours when it was actually only 2. Add to the fact also these bloopers would probably have even more or even include scenes that haven't been seen in either Strikes or Trail. I would like to think that MAYBE there is a 3 hour cut that's never surfaced, but its seeming more likely there never actually was one. Only 2 hours which fanedits are able to make. One can hope maybe one day I'm proved wrong though. I would like to be wrong.

The one that grabbed me by I freaked out ... Because being a fan of John Cassavates films... When I first saw these bloopers and I heard that Stark was stoned from what they actually put into his prop pipe. I was totally caught off guard when Sellers stand with his back to the camera.... And went completely American he didn't sound like Cassavetes.... But it was like a bland American accent. And he says it in this... He just freaked Stark out by saying... Hello my name is John Cassavates and I'm interested in motor noise... And I was like what did Sellers just come out with that... And I died laughing because I kind of saw the in joke with the bland voice the accent and like this vision that the director John Cassavates is like a form of engine noise I can't explain it .. Ah The Killers 1964 ....

Thanks so much for uploading these remarkable clips Jeff... Peter had an awful lot of issues... and it was a wonder they got through the shoot... But when he corpsed that was it... The scene with Liz Smith's fake nose is terrific. It would drive some actors and directors into issues on set not realising his huge scope. That's why he'd only work with certain other actors, directors and producers they had to understand he could go off the rails at any point

I remember seeing this film during its first run when I was in high school in 1976. Lesley-Anne Down gave me, as we used to say back then, a rise in my Levi’s.
How they ever got through making these films, is beyond me. Edwards & Sellers effortlessly reducing everyone to tears 🤣
These out takes and bloopers are class, Peter Sellers was so funny and hysterical in them, they must be the best ever of any Film or TV Show they are Compulsive Viewing i just have to watch them over and over again😂🤣
This makes me laugh even more than the original film!!! 😀 👍
Peter Sellers was a genius no one could do clouseau like him ..
How any of them managed to keep a straight face and not crack up laughing during filming is nothing short of a miracle. I had forgotten Michael Robbins was in this and a Minder episode once. Glad to see they had fun during their work. Makes all the difference.
I often wondered how on earth they managed to complete any pink panther movie with seller's bloopers . Absolutely hilarious to watch . Seller's at his best and a British comedian the likes we will never see again .
That grabbing Francois by the tie to leverage himself up is one of the funniest bits in fillum history you know?

Interesting that in that scene, I believe she buries Sellers' head inside her fur coat. The call out in this clip is "Take 9". Do you think Sellers might have purposefully fluffed, in order to get several chances at that 'fur coat' moment?
Some of the most iconic scenes in film comedy!
I laugh ever time he pulls his tie and bangs his head on the table.
I can watch it over and over again.😂😂😂😂
Parents drug me along to a conference in 1977. I was 7 and had nothing to do in the hotel but watch TV. It was the first time I saw the Pink Panther and Dukes of Hazard. THAT was a good trip ❤

Great to see Peter all giggly. It's not uncommon though for an actor playing a serious character (Clouseau was always serious) to tend to break up more than usual thanks to the pent up laughs. Leonard Nimoy had the same problem with Spock.
" Mr stuffsucker" must be one of the funniest lines in comedy film history. To be fair it was a difficult name to pronounce ,, Mr stutterstut I think it was, but brilliant stuff.
Peter Sellers brilliance is unmatched.
Honestly this would be the best studio to work with! Peter would light my day up with Kato

Genius.. Just a funny funny man. ❤️
Not enough Lesley-Anne Down. There can never be enough Lesley-Anne Down.
So nice to see these from my favorite PP film. It's amazing they ever completed any of them with Sellers cracking up at the drop of a hat!
There is NO WAY I would have been able to keep a straight face in any of these scenes if I was in the studio crew
This is great! I love the Pink Panther/Inspector Clouseau movies. Peter Sellers is great. The Pink Panther Strikes Again is the best of the series. Some footage was later use in Trail Of The Pink Panther.
The scene where Sellers floats out the window and is on the phone and the reaction on his face when he looks down had me laughing so hard I couldn't breathe!!😂😂😂
LOL I always loved how he mocked the French with his Characterization of the Inspector
It must have been incredible to be there.
Love Peter, he was a comedy genius. He was my dad's favourite actor. xx
My word Lesley-Anne Down was such a beautiful woman. Loved these movies when I was growing up.
This blooper is beyond genius!!!!!
Well done 😂 I haven't stopped laughing - one of the very best + Chesters Backhanders😊
Peter Sellers was a comedic GEM!... 😂😂😂😂😂
Looking good in June 1976. Peter's heart medications really finished him off 1977-1980.

Classic and funny without all the crazy shite in the movies today. Still remember going with my parents in the seventies . Watch these every few years and always laugh out loud.
Thank you for creating these clips- they are amazing
For the love of filmmaking ❤️
I can only imagine how insanely hard should´ve been to work with a comedian genius like Peter, every time he created his magic it should´ve been a torture to contain yourself to not explode laughing and ruin the take.
Sellers received a lot of praise and deservedly so, for his depiction of the hapless Gallic inspector, but Herbert Lom as Dreyfus was no less deserving. His speech at Clouseau’s “funeral” is comedic genius.
Looks like thei had so much fun filming!
Absolute gold, thanks for this.
11:21 the statue behind Sellers is killing me 🤣🤣🤣
Interesting and very funny compilation, thanks for posting this! I noticed this in another PP blooper reel, there are some scenes that were obviously never used in the final film.
Ohh what a way to have made your living I wouldn’t have stoped laughing 😂,fantastic sellers 😂
One of my favourite comedy actors. Hilarious mistakes while making these films.
Gosh, what fun they must have had making these Pink Panther films!
this comicity is HEALTHY :D::D Love Peter Seller

He had the greatest laugh...RIP Peter
The struggles of a smart intelligent and very rational man having to be absolutely silly for a living to entertain us and totally failing not to laugh at what he’s expected to do 😂
_The Pink Panther Strikes Again_ was originally going to be a three-hour epic in the vein of _It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World,_ but wiser heads prevailed and a good half hour was cut from the movie. Every scrap of that cut stuff was used to fake a new appearance by Sellers in 1982's _Trail Of The Pink Panther._ I believe the first 70s Panther flick was at first intended to be the pilot of a lavish TV series, too.
@Veyron722skyhook

Cant believe i had not seen these before.
Timeless and worth it's weight in gold. Just as funny as the final product.
Peter IS the one and only Clouseau. 😢
That's why he'd only work with certain other actors, directors and producers they had to understand he could go off the rails at any point
the last bit is a type of london accent m caine ps one of the finest character actors.
This was great. Thank you! 🤣
