"Wish You Were Here" So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain. Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell? Did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? Did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage? How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.

Pretty much that's what it's about. Roger Waters and David Gilmour wrote it about founding member Syd Barrett's break from reality as a result of Schizophrenia. @Megan Williams “Wish You Were Here” has meaning to me in a similar way. In the late 70s, I remember my much older (and only older) sister, Karen, introducing the song to me as a kid, after we took a walk to a nearby record shop where she purchased the album. I idolized her and absolutely believe that she shaped my preferences in music to this day, which in turn through me, helped shape the musical tastes of her nephew and niece, my children. At the time, it was Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Foreigner, Styx, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Aerosmith, Eagles, Bee Gees, Genesis, Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tom Petty, Supertramp, and Beatles music from their later years before the band broke up. She also liked some pop and disco music as you can tell, but was mostly into rock, especially the bands who wrote their own meaningful lyrics, like this very one. My very first vinyl LP’s were gifts from her and I have kept them to this day: Supertramp’s “Breakfast in America & “Led Zeppelin IV”. My sister Karen passed away from leukemia at age 20 and every time one of these bands’ songs play, it transports me back to sitting on the purple shag rug of her bedroom floor and the distinct sound of vinyl records playing from her console stereo. 🎶

Looking up this movie after losing my soulmate of 27years he was my person, best friend, lover, confidant, family... all wrapped into one. We met at 13. From middle school to 39(two months from his 40th) I was forty already but today I turned 41. Cried most of the day. I can’t believe anyone would want to erase the good memories of someone they loved so deeply. All I want is to dream of him. And for the first few weeks that’s where I could still see him. Then I had a dream where he told me he’s moving on he can’t stay and he floated away and I haven’t seen him or even had a real dream since. Which is unusual for me I always dream. He would say he didn’t often and didn’t remember them. Now my dreams are how he described his and I hate it. We all want that one more day. I love you Bub. Miss you more then anything in the world. For everyone suffering may you find peace.

Falling in love, knowing it won't last. But falling anyway. Trying to make every bit of every second; holding his face, feeling his warm breath on my back, holding him tight before falling to peaceful sleep, running through his soft hair, feeling his lips what feels like forever kissing mine. Fearing another day knowing it's our goodbye. Crying even tho I don't want to make things harder. Seeing him cry in my arms. Crying together. Ah. We fell in love knowing at the beginning we can probably never be together. But we still did. And that makes us brave. That makes us human. To touch one another. With soul, mind, body, and spirit. I, my love, hope that you can move on. That you can find another love, someday. That, you will remember how our souls danced and cared for each other. I have hope that, maybe, one day, .... And know you have it too. Farewell (this was/is our song) Update: We are still together and better than ever! :D it is possible to fight for what you truly want. Thank you all for kind words and I am wishing eveybody who reads this: best in life and good love. :)

Noticed that Clem's hair colors like the seasons? When they've first met, green, like warm, fresh spring with new chances. Then red for summer when their relationship was joyful without any problems and after that the orange for autumn, the fall, when everything started to change and falling apart. Then the winter, the "blue ruin" when the relationship has failed and their lives were empty but winter's also about hibernation, a bit of pause and after that a new spring comes, a new life I'm literally crying, this movie is a FUCKING MASTERPIECE

Keşke ben de "Wait, just wait, i don’t know just wait" deseymişim ve keşke sen de bekleseymişsin beni, seni hüngür hüngür, hıçkıra hıçkıra ağlatarak terk ettiğim o gece. "So long and thanks for all the fish"

Sahi her gittiğimiz yerden geri dönecek miyiz?

Escrevo do Brasil, dia 15/11/2022.

Every boy has that wonderful, chirpy, beautiful, but ultimately tragic soul mate that brings him out of his shell. Enjoy it while it lasts, and then suffer forever when it doesn't work out. The age-old saying "It's better to have loved and lost then to have never loved at all" I really don't know if it is anymore. I think the video and song are synced perfectly and the chemistry between Jim and Kate is incredible. Both are great actors.

Yes, it is still true, but so is your comment. Just think about what that chirpy, beautiful girl brought out. Maybe right now it does not seem it was worth it, but in time, you will meet men and women who never experienced what you have lost, when you do, you will pity them instead of envy them. Next time that woman makes you feel like a young man, you will cherish every second with her and who knows maybe that time it will last for all your lifetime.

There is a Billy Joel song titled "Say goodbye to Hollywood" which includes the line "Life is a series of hellos and goodbyes". These are very true words and apply to many people you meet in life as most we meet come and then go. Never hang on to memories of a past love too tightly or too long or your life will end up being about the thoughts of days gone by instead of the moment and days to come. Days turn to week, turn to years...I see you wrote you "Think our chapter together is closed" which means you are living with hope that maybe someday again. True love doesn't usually have a break up involved in it. People just know when it is right and it should not be a major effort and a lot of work to be with someone who is right for you. A beautiful face and or body does not make a beautiful relationship. Two like minded people make for a beautiful relationship!

Falling in love, sometimes knowing it won't last. But falling anyway. I mean... what's the worst can happen ... The first exchanged looks , the unexplained happiness, to the arguments and disagreements that ended in a last cold kiss . Though we shall not get trapped in endless thoughts of regret. Life moves on and we must adapt . It can be tough at the beginning but everything will be alright . Everything ends, nothing lasts forever . Everything has it's own time .

This was "our song" when I was with my high-school sweetheart. We were best friends, and every one of our friends looked up to us for our relationship. We grew up through everything life had thrown at us. I was self medicating major depression and head trauma, and we both fed off of each other's addictions. One night it was the end. If one didn't leave the other, then it would have happened anyway. It was time. Nevertheless, it broke my heart. I lost my best friend, who was essentially dead to me at this point, and it hurt more than anything else. I moved on, because I needed to. If I didn't, I'd perish from it. I don't think she ever did. She's not in a good way each time I've seen her since, and that hurts too. Being married and moved on, it's almost like I'm trying to do what's in this movie, and completely sponge this person from my memories. Almost 9 years of my formative years, so it takes some attempt. And it's as hard as you'd think. I'm now happily married with our first daughter who is 8 months old. I couldn't be happier with my family, my wife is absolutely phenomenal at everything she does. I don't think she'll ever understand why that person will always hurt my heart a bit. I'm not sure how to progress, or if there is a progression. I guess it's just the act of mourning someone who's still alive, because they are so far gone from who you remember them as.

A ningún lugar. No quiero olvidar.

I love it like when you get over your thirty something and things start making sense. Things I was just admiring when I was younger now really show me their depth. Many things are just sad, but it is not that sadness to be afraid of or avoided. It is that sadness which tells you that you are alive and have been living your life, with all kinds of emotions. Like this combination - I never would have thought about this connection, but yes. This is definitely what the song is about. And what the movie is about. Did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? Would you just give up the biggest love of your life because it hurts so much to be together? Or would you fight to the very end?
