Since KZread algorithmically sent us all to hear this song and see this video and yours is the top ranked recent comment, I am gonna analyze your statement. The statement consists of two parts, Mr. Runon Sentence. (1) "Pink Floyd will go down in history as one of the most life changing, soul altering bands ever, without a doubt," History, the recorded retelling of events. In general, history does not record "life changing" or "soul altering" musical groups, as both descriptors are subjective and historically insignificant. History records things like "Best selling band of the 20th century" or "Most culturally significant art of the 16th century". (2) "Pink Floyd has the most mind blowing music period!" Subjective statement. "...period!" period exclamation point? I judge your statement to be subjective hyperbole. Thank you for sharing. In my humble opinion, Pink Floyd was a highly successful musical act whose art reflected the inner turmoil of youth acclimating themselves to the modern reality of mechanization and depersonalization. The music and images also depicted that same youth escaping that same bleak reality with drugs and debauchery, and how such escapism is ultimately false and destructive. I would call Pink Floyd the Definitive Boomer Band, even more so than the Beatles.

The year was, I think, 1989. (Though I'm not good with linear time.) I was in the pool...not too fancy, just an above-ground pool, but it was nice to have. I lived with my parents, and so too (for a while, at least) did my grandmother. I was old enough not to have to attend the local brainwashing facility, (I left it early) yet not old enough yet to find myself the wage slave. In this idyllic memory of that bygone age, I had a boom-box with the 'Wish You Were Here' album playing as I floated listless around the perpetual circle of the water's gentle drift. Out from the kitchen my mother called out, "Turn that racket off!" My fondest memory of my Nana is when she interceded on my behalf. "Oh, I like it, Beu," she said. My mother went back to whatever else she was doing, and the notes continued to rise into the clear blue sky. I miss her. She's been gone some three decades now, and I only realized too late what a waste it was not to have spent more time with her. And yet, each time I hear tracks from that album...especially "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"...I feel as if she's still in her rocker, smiling, sharing it with me. Physics tells us that energy, like matter, can neither be created or destroyed. Steely rationalists will say that the energy retains no cohesion: that nothing survives of the souls we once were, when we die. And yet I choose to believe that they are wrong: that in some way which cannot be measured by an oscilloscope, we persist. Not because there is any evidence which compels the choice; but because it soothes my heart to believe that it may be so. And I have this as comfort: if I am WRONG...I'll never know. Shine On, Nana...wherever you are.

I'm 66 and still listening. Pink Floyd was my first concert EVER in 1975. My two older brothers took their little sister to her first concert. I was only 17, but had been spending weekends at my oldest brother's and his wife's house. I'm so grateful they brought me along. Pink Floyd performed the entire "Dark Side of the Moon" album. What an amazing night. Window pane and all! (At 17 I had already graduated high school) When you've seen the very best as your first concert, nothing else will ever compare. I've since seen them three more times and Roger Waters 4 times. The last one being "This is not a drill." I do wish David Gilmore would tour as well. I would certainly be there. Hopefully, at least Roger Waters will tour again. Being in his 70s, I hope he continues to do what he's doing until he's 90. Whenever I buy a new car, the first thing I do is go to Amazon and purchase a new Pink Floyd sticker for the rear window. My brothers are no longer here but both of my daughters and one of my nephews are Pink Floyd fans. My daughters have seen Roger Waters with me and so has my brothers son. What a privilege to have seen one of the greatest musicians, composers, and lyricists of all time.🎉

This record came out shortly before I left school. Within a year or so I was introduced to the "Machine" by getting onto crowded public transport each morning filled with miserable looking people with dead eyes. The country (Britain) was in a bad way, but I was full of hope while making my way to a boring desk job, then back onto a crowded train carriage again to head home. At the age of 17 I realised exactly what this song was all about, and so did all my mates.

Вот и мешает им Россия, со своей традиционной повесткой и не принятием их очевидной дури. Apsolutely perfect, I felt like reading '1984.'
Why does this song go so well with the video. Who ever made this is a genius
Saw them in 77,echos,takes you back, animals, lead to machines, the machine took you to the dark side of the moon, which there isn't a dark side, cause it's all dark.possibly the greatest concert on earth and definitely my favorite and best concert I've ever been to.and I've seen hundreds.fucking awesome.

One of the most genius aspects of Pink Floyd’s music, they knew and used the introduction PERFECTLY! Setting the tones of the song long before a vocal began!

as you are extracted into this world, this song plays for every soul at birth. born innocent to be groomed. my advice to everyone utilize common sense and logic when navigating thru life. believe your own eyes. make sense of all that you hear. take care of each other(subjective yet encouraged) good luck young and old both.
