The first time I heard Pink Floyd I was 8 years old, the year of 1973, my uncle had bought "Dark side of The Moon" on vinyl of course and we listened to the hole album without saying a word. After that experiense Pink Floyd became my all time favorit band. I have also been on two stadium-concerts , one of them was PULSE, and I still can remember the feeling, I havent had the same experience, even I have been at several big stadium-concerts with Metallica, Bruce Springsteen(x2), Stones, Queen was up there, but not quite.

In the 70s we just listened to a vast variety of great music. We didn't categorize it. We were so spoiled.

As far as smooth perfect voices, I would add James Taylor and Randy Travis.
I grew up with Pink Floyd. I was so used to them that I never gave the music a second thought. It just was always there. Now, I get very emotional hearing the genius and memories it brings back.

Same. Pink Floyd was "just another rock band" while I was growing up, and not necessarily one of my favorites. Time made me realize: Pink Floyd isn't just something to listen to, it's something you resonate with.
One does not exactly jam to Pink Floyd. Their's is the only concert that I have ever been to where I sat perfectly still the whole time. Just taking it all in. 😉✌🏼💙

I’m 76 and Pink Floyd was entertaining since I was 19 or 20. I used to think my feelings were close to The Moody Blues until I heard Pink Floyd. Now I’m listening to Tool (better late than never.) I was so fortunate to be 21 in 69. Best music ever!

I was stationed in Italy in the 90's during the whole Bosnia thing. I got to go see Pink Floyd outside of Milan, summer of 1994. Big , incredible show. A drunk Italian did piss on my leg, but it was still worth it
yup, you nailed it, DG's solos just move us in a way that fast, flashy, albeit talented guitarists simply don't, his solos always seem to have meaning and complement the song, and you never tire of them, he's a one off.

Nice! As you know if you’re classically trained, this music isn’t terribly complex but it always hits just right. Sometimes there is perfection in simplicity. And great music is supposed to make us feel something, no matter the genre or complexity. Pink Floyd always got it just right.
The song is mesmerizing, and that kinetic device over your shoulder only adds to this listening experience.
Crazy to think that here we are 30+ years after that performance and David is about to go on tour again! Such a legend.

well, technically 30 years younger than now, but definitely during the post-Roger days in '94.
Even though Gilmour isn't a Steve Vai or Satriani as far as range of technique and flavors, what chops he does have are wonderful. It's like he has this etherial sound and his simplistic playing is punctuated with a mature sensitivity in his bend work, to which he is a master. It's like you've died and are racing thru the clouds toward on your way home. It really feels like a sound from the other side.
Oh I think you are musically inclined, your analysis are spot on. This coming from a 70 year old little old lady and her oldan in Ontario 😆 . Keep posting we look forward to watching.
Live. 3 times. Including Berlin The Wall - yes that one. Magic
Pink Floyd although labeked rock, truly are their own genre. Grew up surrounded by all these wonderful musicians.
Nice reaction. Some Pink Floyd/David songs are very slow and mellow, but they are never boring. There is always an intensity no matter the temp, because it makes you feel things that we all feel but don’t always have the music that connects us with that. David is performing this Fall, just in New York and LA (at least in the US). Tickets are still available on Stub Hub so if you can swing it to get to one of those shows, drop what you’re doing and get that ticket now. Likely the last chance we will have to see him perform.
Such a beautiful song with an eternal message - Floyd’s performances are always an experience with the crispest and most luscious soundscapes!
"Got some hard core Pink Floyd fans here. " You say that like there's any other kind - LOL.
Pink Floyd are an institution where you can study whatever you like.
My brother and I went to Houston and saw them on a Friday night and saw Pink floyd then again on Saturday in Dallas. I flew to NC for work on Sunday for work Monday and called my buddy and asked whats up and he said Pink Floyd was playing and he was going so I ended up going again call my brother and jacked with him so that was three nights in a row how about that?!!!! Awesome time 🎉
I LOVE singing this song. This song has even more meaning today!! Saw them in Vancouver BC in '95ish! Best concert ever even though it was a BC Place. Nothing beats the Colusium! I do not call Pink Floyd metal, they're in a category all by themselves!!

Run like hell for the Pulse concert will blow your mind! Great reaction Polo!
David is a master at phrasing. Also, he lands on all the “sweet notes” while guiding you there seamlessly.
Oooooooh...kayayyy. now we're talking. K. Gilmore is the man and this song..... 😭💯♥️♥️♥️♥️
Pink Floyd, in my opinion, is in their own class. I got to see them 4 times and of the hundreds of concerts I’ve attended, I can’t think of any comparison. Ghost is the only other band that I can listen to every song of over and over, hearing something new each time. The movie is The Wall? I used to see it often with Timothy Leary back in the 80s. Midnight movies.
Congrats on 300 K subscribers! You were right about David Gilmore being younger for this recording. His voice was in fine form. I was fortunate enough to see Pink Floyd live in an open-air stadium (Edmonton, Alberta, 1994) with 55000 other lucky souls! My face was sore for days from smiling for three hours! Thanks Polo!
David is only 7 years younger here than he is at the P.U.L.S.E. concerts. But, yes, I think this song is one that brings out the very best in his voice. The chords reminds me of an English folk ballad, in many ways, and Dave’s voice fits it just perfectly.
I have watched "The Wall" movie, at least 30 times over my life. you gotta keep watching it over and over its incredible!
I was lucky to have near front row seats at the Pulse concert back in my high school days! I could feel the Pyrotechnics on my face as the entire experience washed over me.
Poles Apart!!! You will not be disappointed my Friend!!!
Pink Floyd is officially dissolved, however David Gilmore has just started a new tour, Nick Mason and Roger Waters also tour.
speakers. PINK FLOYD had a Lazer light show of dark side of the moon and it was so beautiful.
Omg! This was phenomenal!!
When this first came out I didn't have the patience for it , It wasn't until I got older and needed to chill and calm my A## down I found a profound love for a little buzz and headphones . Cures whatever ails ya
One of my very favourite floyd songs i would definitely recommend watching the video with the claymotion figures such a emotional video it will bring you to tears
Echoes live in Pompeii, is greatness from this band, please watch you'll love it
You said you ‘love how they do their lights.’ Likewise. When I first discovered (and became obsessed with) Pink Floyd, I read a great book on the history of the band-including lots of extraordinary material on the Syd Barrett era, which to me was very mysterious, and what little I knew about Syd made me think he was something of a kindred spirit. Of course, I also felt that way about Jim Morrison. As a matter of fact, every person, real or fictitious, with whom I identified as a young man was a deeply troubled, misunderstood artist or scientist whose life ended tragically. Any guesses as to how my life ended up? Anyroad, the lights! Pink Floyd was one of the first band to experiment with creative lighting at their performances. They would use projectors onto which they would place oils of different colours and densities, and as the band played, someone would stand at the projector and smear these oils around, producing crazy shows of what looked like coloured blobs swimming round over the band, sometimes splitting, or swallowing each other, or just swirling ‘round and round. Also, for one show, they played a video they had made by pushing one of their mates around London in a wheelchair, with the bloke in the wheelchair carrying the camera. So:Pink Floyd more or less invented the modern rock ‘n’ roll concert experience-and, being the first and the most creative, of course, they raised it to its very highest pinnacle.
Gilmour can say sooo much with a single note.
A great book about the band is called A saucer Full of Secrets. I think I got the title right, it’s been a while since reading it. Very eclectic guys and beautiful painters of sound. ❤❤❤
You are right. The perfect amount of time for a guitar solo
One of those rare instances where the live version is even better than the original studio recording.
Ive been a fan of Floyd since i was 10 in 1972 , my late dad bought me the Meddle LP with a 24min track called Echoes which is still my fav track of Floyd LP version . Seen them twice Live The Wall tour 1980 and The Pulse Tour 1994 . Glad you like Floyd
This album was my first ever Pink Floyd concert and only my second concert ever!!! I'm with you on the DG solos... solos that we can "feel..." ❤
This song was released on the album “A Momentary Lapse of Reason” September 7, 1987. The following year 1988 they went on tour to promote the album. I saw them in concert that year and it was incredible. It was an outdoor arena Kansas City Chiefs Arrowhead Stadium. They played 2 sets with an intermission in between sets, 11 songs and 12 songs. The concert was over 3 hours if I’m not mistaken. It was the second best concert for me followed behind Led Zeppelin 1977. Thanks for another Pink Floyd reaction. Check out Sorrow it pretty great.

When i was a kid, Floyd was reference line for testing new stereo systems. First that that came on the turntable... Everywhere.
I’ve never thought of any of the seminal prog bands (Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, King Crimson) as metal though they all certainly rocked out at times, but were capable of exquisite delicate delights at the same time. I gotta ponder this some more. Cool 😎
Pi k Floyd has always been one of my top 5 since around 79 and I have been to see them in concert over a dozen times and it is always 💯

Huge PF fan here and saw them at the DSOT tour in New Orleans. PLEASE react to the live performance of Sorrow from the PULSE Tour. David’s guitar performance will blow you away!!
David Gilmour's guitar playing is easily identifiable. He played on Brian Ferry's song "Is Your Love Strong Enough" and you just know it's David Gilmour playing without seeing the video. I still think the best way to listen to Pink Floyd is earphones on and just laying back and losing yourself in the music. They'll take you on a trip for sure.
Roger tours and David also I highly recommend getting to either show if or whenever they come around .
My favorite band of all time. My 2nd favorite band is Jane's Addiction.
I actually saw your lead singer in tool body slam a guy who rushed the stage and kept singing the song awesome
My favorite David Gilmour solo!! Thanks for the reaction!!
David Gilmour's new solo album will drop in early September. He will be touring parts of the United States. So far New York and LA have been announced. Floyd and Gilmour fans are waiting to see what other cities are announced. You just may get your chance. P. S. Never heard Pink Floyd described as any part of "metal". That's a new one on me.
Great song! I can say for SURE that if you want to hear industrial metal the perfect band is Ministry. They are, for all real purposes, the originators of the genre and in my opinion the all time best
I got to see them in 1988 when they were at their peak. A memory that lives on through the years. We were blessed with so much fantastic music living in the seventies and eighties. So nice to see you enjoying that era
Love this song.
