I'd have to say when DDF said some time ago 'I could play this gig" he obviously had a great passion for it. This is not to say that the previous guitarist hadn't the cut as he is a very accomplished musician and played well. I do love Daves style however and he really does have his Gilmour down pat so he's obviously got good ears. Love the simplicity of the system and it works. Anyway, thanks for the great video and keep on playing some of the best music ever recorded... P.S. Great video, but I'm itching to know the nerdy routing details of how the Line 6 Pod XT Pro & Floorboard appear to be being used as the MIDI switching hub of the entire rig. ;-) I'm guessing that all of the Pod Effects & Amp Sims are disabled, apart from pitch shift on a few patches, and that the MIDI out of the Pod is linked to the looper controlling the stomp boxes in the rack trays. My guess is that the Pod is also there to be the amp sim should it all drop in the pot and the Twin Reverb blows up leaving direct as being the only option. Maybe...
@domminney
5 жыл бұрын
Back in those days I just used the XT Pro to mix the microphone, acoustic DIs and keyboard, then I added a little reverb and studio compression for FOH. Basically now it's the same but I have 2 amps & 2 mics as the whole rig is stereo. In this video the basics were mono and then I added the odd bit of rotary from the Line 6. It sounds so much better now with a fully stereo rig. So the line 6 was and still is just a mixer connected to a nice pedalboard with a clear display so I can see the patch names.

..Ciao, I'm write to ask for a tip ..., I found that we have almost the same audio equipment and I would like to ask you a few questions if you can. I personally resumed training for 12 months, after stopping in 1997 due to an accident that caused damage to my hearing, but in 2017 I decided to resume what I had interrupted, starting from what I had left, a dream .. a dream and some effect of the boss Made in JAPAN, which I discover today sound better than the current Taiwan twins ... this prompted me to deepen the discussion a lot and I started to resell the new equipment purchased in 2017 to change it with the twins used and Vintage .. until you get to a Setup very close to yours, line6 pod Pro> boss GR Pro> Gizmo RJM> Drawer Pedals etc ... I take this opportunity to congratulate you for all the work you are doing and I ask you, will you ever come to Italy ?. . I hope I'm not out of place and can exchange some technical advice with you. thanks and best wishes for everything! Francesco .it

David consistently plays 3 or 4 guitars a show. Not counting his acoustics. Black Strat Main guitar, Tele for old Floyd/Run Like Hell/etc, Red Strat for 80s and 90s tone/Shine On, and a Gibson or another humbucker guitar for some newish stuff.
@Goldhand28
6 жыл бұрын
Yes correct! On his recent tour he had the Black Strat and the old Fender Esquire "Workmate" as his mains and the '56 Goldtop Les Paul on one song. 2 lap steel and 2 acoustic guitars and that's it. The Red Strat has been dropped completely, as the Black Strat is his favorite axe again since the Live 8 gig in 2005 ;)

Wow Hey David Fowler I don't know if you're see my message on here I'm your friend on FB Page , I was been Jamming Alot of Pink Floyd lately and even made a couple of FB videos to _ I just wanted to say WOW BRO YOU GOT ONE MEGA SETUP ON YOUR GEAR AND I LOVE ALL YOUR GUITARS MY FRIEND

Went to see these guys in October, they were absolutely brilliant!
If I was the interviewer I'd be like throwing all my fav Gilmour licks at him. Do this one and do this one lol.....
Merci ❤
You are the COOLEST Dave...
I've kept my GV-2 in a drawer. Till today. Hahahahah Very interesting video...and I had this idea to buy a Boss BD-2W...he confirmed I have to.
Greatbmusic
What a cool guy. :)
Dave should go solo and cover Gilmour's solo stuff. :)
I've always wondered why the poles in Strat pickups are uneven. Some are sticking out, some are lower. Any reason for this?

because of the fretboard curve, the middle ones are further up than the outer ones
..Ciao, I'm write to ask for a tip ..., I found that we have almost the same audio equipment and I would like to ask you a few questions if you can. Francesco .it
What's the rotary speaker simulator?
Holy crap........the only other rig except for mine is the Boss GT=Pro....i use two...i buy them when i find them.............wow............great stuff mate....i'm a Gilmour freak already....but next i suppose you use Evidence cables from guitar to speaker wire......call Tony Farinnela......great chap........Gilmour rif is same....all evidence, even comes from cs with dg guitar
The Boss GT pro is a highly underrated piece of gear. I gigged with one for s few years.

This dude loves his gear...very slick demo and control of that wicked rig. Can't mess with a Fender amp either...I was actually arguing with some little twat a few weeks ago about Fender amps, he said Fender is shit....ha

And now I use Supro ha ha!
still using line 6?
Wow! Don't know know what else to say.
I am trying to figure out why he is 'raising' volumes or effects levels by pulling the expression pedals 'down' to the off position.
@domminney

Because I like the default position to be pedal up 😉 it’s not about the direction the pedal moves in, as long as it starts fully on.
So, the first 28 again please, I think I've got the rest 🤪
I love the math to get to 11
Is this guy from a floyd tribute band? Anyone know? Thanks

Yep, Dave plays with Australian Pink Floyd Show. HTH
My god is he good! Shit!
At 13:24, he talks about a rotary simulator, but never tells what pedal it is. Can anyone shed some light on what pedal he is using for this?
@mikkywhalan

Probably a simulator in the boss multi effect unit
So funny. Mr Gilmore uses like one or two back in the day.
Hi I am Dave from the Australian Pink Floyd show, and I speak with an East London accent. So I am not an Aussie at all.

And Gilmour plays one guitar through pretty much all of his gigs maybe one swap over here and there

@Goldhand28

I’m trying to recreate studio sounds not just have a good live touring sound, hence I need more guitars (that’s my excuse). 9 on tour has been my maximum so far 🤣

You need to get a new Strat, that thing is old!
Most annoying camera work. Great passionate musician, great gear.
All his tones sound like playing guitar through PC
cool guy
Assumed he would be an Australian
He´s good but I´m missing the lightness of David´s play.
Nice video, but please stop shaking the camera around.
This is NOT Pink Floyd mate... Anyway great vid and awesome gear.
NOT PINK FLOYD. This is a cover band!

he doesn't sound australian to me.
Misleading title!

Don't title the video "Pink Floyd Guitar Rig" if you're not Pink Floyd.
