I remember when Rick died, I was incredibly saddened. More than by the death of any other rock star in my lifetime. He was such a nice guy, and really an integral part of the Pink Floyd sound. It was impossible to go on without him, and this is coming from someone who for 20 years after Bonham died insisted Led Zeppelin could do it without him (his son Jason notwithstanding)...... he was never the guy in the spotlight but what he brought on the piano, keyboards, and synths was irreplaceable. Even the most accomplished pianist could not replicate his sound because so much of it was instinctive and reactive, and in a lot of ways a very live and "in the moment" operation of all the switches, dials, and pedals in his rig.

It's likely the string of masterpieces that led to the breakup... Waters felt like the writing was all that was needed... meanwhile, the musical masterings of Gilmour and Wright, along with David's soft melodic voice, were the things that made the band special. Don't get me wrong... Waters was an incredible writer with regards to lyrics... but lyrics alone don't make music... and his musical ability always was limited (Gilmour had to show him how to play a bass with delay on One of these Days - listen for 2 bass parts one is Gilmour, other is Waters). It's a shame that Roger's ego was so huge when all he did was write great lyrics. It's what destroyed the band. They did just fine without him for 2 more albums though... even though the 1st was mostly Gilmour.

This video is fantastic! I’m a fan of Pink Floyd since I was a baby, it means SO MUCH to me! Every time I listen to Pink Floyd I feel like every piece of me listens to it, it feels almost as we are connected. When the audio from the shows got in, I cried, I felt it so hard people just vibing to Pink, kinda makes me wish I was there too. I’ve went to Roger’s show in 2018, such an unique and unforgettable experience. This band has been in my family for years! I simply love them. Adore them. This video made me smile! I’m planning to play a Pink Floyd song to a really special person of mine, I’m still choosing but I want it to be a very extraordinary day and experience. It really means to me.

good lord that must have been a tremendous amount of research and work putting this together as well as you did. well done mate, you're an asset to the internet! thank you.
Great job, Angelo. This post reminded me how lucky I have been to live my life in the era of Pink Floyd. PF has always been present in my life since I was 15 years old. Looking forward to celebrating the half-century anniversary of the release of DSOTM in 2023, with all the 3 members alive.
Trés bon travail. Merci bcp.
Roger aged best of all, he looks terrific! Everyone's always joked about his appearance, calling him a "horse" and such, especially when compared with drop-dead gorgeous Gilmour. Myself I've always loved Roger's "custom" look, and now he's gotten the best out of it, haha! Reminds me of Richard Gere. Anyway, I know it's silly to talk about it, it's just trivia. The most important thing for them is to stay healthy and work together for years to come! RIP Rick and Syd.
'So glad they got together and made some of the most brilliant soundtracks of our time. 'Saw them live in Sydney in 1971 when I was fifteen; they were so apologetic because the Sydney end stuffed the sound. They thought it was tragic, but we were all just happy they had come out to Australia.

Syd Barrett's early creative direction, pushing the band towards long meandering (then semi-improvised) music set the band's foundations. His subsequent decline and exit inspired their greatest output thereafter. It's so Sad what happened to Syd, but without him Pink Floyd would not have been.

What an excellent work :-)! - A small correction, though: Bob Klose never played the bass, though, but was the lead guitarist (read about Bob Klose at en.wikipedia.org). - He recorded "I'm a King Bee" & "Lucy Leave" with the band in 1965 (which I watched here at KZread).
I wish the formation at 0:45 would remain the same for the following decades, maybe they would remain together until today, and only god knows what kind of music they would have done.

Gilmour and the Floyd have been pushing my emotions around since I heard them the first time ( '70's ?) in pure ecstacy and bliss. God bless them they're everything to me musically. I bet it's been fun for them too.
PF started at 63 (not 64, not 65) already with original songs. It had different names, but the songs were original. they played in clubs. And in these clubs the society of artists and influencers in England started a counter culture under the music of PF. all bands also attended, and were totally influenced by the PF. Even today, bands are influenced by the PF. there is music before and after PF.
I’ve been waiting for this.
