Okay ready to get in side two! I did extensive commenting on side one. I'll try to make this one shorter. LOL perhaps I relate atom heart mother not just because of the orchestration but when it comes to instruments brass is my forte. And that would be in order trumpet, French horn, baritone, sousaphone, and trombone. I can also play keyboard and had a year of Music Theory. I went to the Wall concert in 1980 they had the full Orchestra and extremely large choir of all ages. Also went to Dark Side of the Moon, Animals, and the momentary lapse of reason. That concert also had a full Orchestra and large choir of all ages. And they covered tracks from all their releases up to 88. But they did the entire heart mother. It was a very long concert over 3 hours. And they played back-to-back nights. It was also the loudest concert Phoenix ever had. After the first night they asked the band to turn the music down for the second night. LOL it would seem they heard the music over the Jets inside Sky Harbor about 3 miles away. And that was in the same stadium they had the black and blue concert in that would be Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult with Molly Hatchet headlining. And they couldn't muster up the same amount of sound with all their equipment combined. Once again sorry, this was long also. Thanks again for doing this review. Not that I don't have it on several formats but it's good to share good feelings and memories. Now after a couple more hits it's time to drink another chocolate coffee vodka and finish the stogie. On with the show! 🤠🐂🏞️🛩️

I love Atom Heart Mother. I think it's my favourite PF album along with Dark Side of the Moon. Not so much side 2 with the short songs, but side 1 is amazing. I think PF aren't so keen on it because they feel they lost control of it. It was finished by someone else and had lots of external contributions, the orchestra and the choir for instance but it's never boring to me. It moves along well and interestingly and parts of it sound heavenly. I think this may be the first album that external noises were introduced on, such as the motorbike starting off and those were not PF's doing, but it must have influenced PF because their later albums include a lot of extraneous noises, particularly Dark Side of the Moon.

@@hanspeterpluss2990 Is your comment for me? I didn't say I didn't like side 2. I just meant side 1 was my favourite. I liked it more than side 2. I still like side 2 though.

Even the early works with Syd Barrett had introduced sounds such as the bicycle in Emily play. Then there was Uma Guma released in 69 that whole LP is nothing but sound effects of introduced sounds At the momentary lapse of Reason concert in 1988 they played atom heart mother in its entirety. There was a full Orchestra and choir as well. They also played pretty much all of Metal, Animals and Dark Side of the Moon and momentary lapse of reason. And most of the wall And a little of everything else off all other albums. It was a very long concert. On atom heart mother Alan Parsons mastered the sound in quadraphonics which was a first for Floyd. Alan Parsons is responsible for mastering most of the music you hear from the best bands ever. And is responsible for most of Pink Floyd recordings. Of course it's never just one, but he was the main man. 🤠🐂🏞️🛩️

i love Fat Old Sun. it's one of my favourite PF songs. despite what they all said about the album, Gilmour has played Fat Old Sun in both his last 2 concerts. so he obviously liked the track a lot. there's another obscure album, you should react to. it's called Obscured By Clouds. 1972 release. have you reacted to David Gilmour as a solo artist? if not, i suggest you react to a song called A Boat Lies Waiting. it was written in memory of Richard Wright, after his death. the live at Pompeii, 2016, version is really beautiful. the song, In Any Tongue, from that concert, is also a truly great song, with a great guitar solo. an anti-war song. keep up the good work.

I love the orchestral power of Rick's Summer 68. The song is about his utter disgust of hookers and groupies that followed the band. And then there's David's Fat Old Sun which is a great guitar solo when done live.

In 1970 there wasn't much in the way of musical effects units so the music is pretty much raw, although on Alan's Psychedelic breakfast the band use a repeat delay.

They all used 16 channel Moog synthesizers. Even in the 60's. And atom heart mother was there first quadraphonic recording Mastered by Alan Parsons. And a lot of bands did electronic effects using synthesizers even in the 60's. Rick Wakeman, E.L.P. Iron Butterfly, Doors... comes to mind. So I'm not quite sure what you mean.

You need to check out Alvino Rey. He was the first to make electronic pickups for guitars. He was also the first to make a talk box. Although it worked backwards from what exists today it was principally the same thing. And he made his steel guitar talk. That was back in 1939. There is a music video it features stringing the talkin guitar. I think that was in 1944. It's on KZread look for it.
