Pinguicula Care - How to Care for Your Butterwort
Pinguicula are sometimes seen as the slightly more difficult carnivorous plants to care for. Today I explain why this is not always the case, and how to care for these beautiful plants. Butterworts can be seen as temperate or tropical, with the former needing a dormancy, and the latter not needing one. Pinguicula are similar to the venus flytrap in that they also eat insects, making them a carnivorous plant. However they are not nearly as scary as a venus fly trap which gives them the relaxed name of 'butterwort' (scientifically known as a pinguicula).

Not sure how many time I've watched this video. My pings just arrived today and I had to leave work at lunch to get them out of the community mailbox before they cooked. 31C today! I'm hoping that my little guys survive.

@@TheFlytrapGarden I bought 2 hybrids - Pinguicula 'Hanka' and Pinguicula martinezii x (gigantea "White Flower") and 1 species - Pinguicula moranensis {Molango}. I sent pictures of them via Instagram to you. Crossing my fingers they'll do well.

I just got some temperate pinguicula. -- lol, I love when you talk about the substrate. I first heard "some recommend a pizza" hahaha. Then it registered and I realized you said "PEAT AND silica sand."

Hi, I'm having quite a bit of trouble with pinguiculas, I've only had a few droseras, utricularias and some seedgrown flytraps. I've ordered 3 pings 2 weeks ago, aphrodite is thriving, wesser is fine, and then we have the cyclosecta.. This cyclosecta doesn't want to grow, nor die(and it doesn't create the mucus). I've tried propagating it, none worked. No root rot, no overwatering, not too humid or even too dry, and no fertilizers. What do i do? Their leaves fall of one by one, without getting brown or dying. Please do respond.

Sometimes the genetic is just not fit for survival. Maybe it wasnt the steongest plant from the get go. Happens, maybe Experiment with the Same genome and just keep it as u have. If it starts dying again u know somethings wrong.
If you keep the Gigantea and moctazuma in bright indirect light they will grow larger
Mine is Pinguicula Weser ehlersiae x moranensis.
My ping is dyign already :( I got it 3 days ago and the leaves started turning white after i repotted it

Fecking loud music, had to turn my stereo down. Then this guy starts talking and I can barely hear him... XD
I had to switch off. That music was not necessary and detracted from the rest of the video.
