    I bought a few from Curious Plant, they've done well. I've noticed they do better under a 1000w or 2000w grow light. I've also been watering mine with a syringe under the leaves, so the water gets to the roots. I don't bottom water them. I bottom water sundew's and fly traps, but not pings. All mine are Mexican pings though.

    Really helpful video! A question: I bought a ping (gigantea) about a month ago and it has holes in some of the leaves now! What should I do to save my plant? (I use distilled water, bottom/ tray watering most times, with careful top watering occasionally, it's on a sunny windowsill)

    You may have some sneaky pest in hiding under your plant like a small snail. I would do a search. The holes could just be related to normal die back of leaves but often it’s an opportunist taking a nibble.

    My work uses a lot of DIW with less than 1 part per trillion of anything in it. It doesn't get more pure than that really. I got a couple of Mexican pings recently, hoping that they catch a lot of the small bugs that come in through the doors.

    After a couple months of watering with 20MΩ DIW, all of my carnivorous plants are growing like weeds and flowering profusely. I've even been using it to water my bonsai trees and they have the richest green leaves I've ever seen. I want to run some experiments with DIW, distilled water, and rain water on the same types of plants and see if there's measurable changes in growth and foliage.

    Regarding the Schultz Cactus Fertilizer, do you still apply it during the winter/succulent phase? They lose the carnivorous leaves at that time, and yet are not truly dormant (and can even flower?) in this form, so I just want to know if I should continue on with foliar feeding.

  • @California_Carnivores

    @California_Carnivores

    Жыл бұрын

    Start opening the bag to acclimate it to the room but you’ll need to take a day or two to acclimate it now that it’s been in so much humidity. Pings appreciate humidity but don’t require it. As long as you keep the soil well watered, it should be good!
