I have allot of problems wit my hips, I found that deep tissue massage and better posture help allot. Also, a really good help is train the lowrr abdomen. I get a compression when I pull my knee to te chest, but when I tense my lower abdomen it's not pinching!!! Try it for yourself!

From my understanding, pinching is caused by the femur pushing against the hip socket bone. How does increasing hamstring strength decrease the distance between the femur and hip and therefore reduce pinching?

I have the same feeling when doing this stretch. Also when I reach full hip extension in the RDL I get a sore feeling in my groin/hip flexors. Would you say to massage the front thigh then do RDL and then do the stretch?

I do have a painful hip, but sometimes it feels like there's sand in my joint - yeah, sand. Also, I haven't properly put one foot infront of the other going up or downstairs in nearly 2 years, as my hip sounds like crackling or a bag of marbles. I don't know what's causing it. However, weirdly, proper deadlifts do seem to really help my hip. Stretching doesn't.

Don't know if you already had the surgery or not. But I had this surgery a couple years ago, doctor recommended. It apparently wasn't the main source of my leg problems, because they said 6 months and you'll be 95 maybe 100% but I am almost two years out and still have problems in the area and other issues. It may have even just added problems I need to fix. I would advise against it, only as a last resort.

I bought the FAI Fix and am just starting to work with it. Unfortunately the move shown here hurts in the front of and 'inside' the hip when straightening back up - along with some fairly intense pain in the SI area (not sure it's actually the SI joint) that has accompanied the FAI. Would appreciate any other tips - thanks!

@@Termiduck The FAI exercises are helpful - definitely hip, leg, ankle/foot, core, and balance exercises, along with overall strength training and conditioning are all critical/helpful! My hip pain (likely associated with 'bone on bone' hip osteoarthritis) is much improved (mobility improvement has been more modest) since being in a ton of daily pain a couple of years ago . However, I have also been working directly with a PT who provides some similar and some different exercises than FAI Fix - and who does deep tissue work; I'm also working with an osteopath who does counterstrain-- the hands-on therapues help tremendously.

I have the impingement in the front of the hip like explained here so tried the deadlifts, what happens if I feel a pinch deep in the groin area right before I reach standing position? I've done your part 2 of this video with the hold and release and it's AWESOME! Serious miracle. But just can't get rid of that nagging groin pinch. Any ideas? This video (and all of your others) are awesome! I just found you and have probably watched 90% of your videos in the last couple of days! What I really appreciate about your videos is 1. that you have first hand experience with hip pain, so you KNOW! and 2. I REALLY appreciate how you explain the exact movements you try to do that are causing pain (if that makes sense) so we can quickly see if it relates to what issues we're dealing with. For instance, "Can't sit in butterfly position because you're feeling a pinching sensation right here (point to area), this is why and this is what you should do." YOU ROCK!! Thank you so much for all you do!

i had something similar. most likely its your hip joint shifting a bit from the long sitting position. youll want to tighten your glutes with isometric exercises to keep your hip joint more stable. in the meantime dont get up too fast since you know this happens. stretch your hip flexors too as those are no doubt very tight from sitting down a lot .

The point of the video is that those who feel tight in the glutes but get a pinch when doing the stretch probably don't need to be doing the stretch but rather doing the strength work.

Upright Health Sure enough. I say that because in my time doing physical therapy and learning about I've never seen a single movement dysfunction that is caused by an tight and presumably overactive glute max doing too much work. Can you name one? I know about people being stuck in posterior tilt because of tight hamstrings but that's probably caused by a weak and under active glute max.
