Pilot Up North - How it is flying to Iqaluit at -30°C (English)

Ойын-сауық

Hello Aviators.
My name is Gilberto Fonseca, I am a Multi-IFR Commercial Pilot and I live in Canada.
The Channel was created in 2023 when I was still looking for my first opportunity to get into the Commercial Pilot career and the purpose of the channel was to show a little bit of the step by step and of course, the differences in the training of a Private Pilot in Brazil and a Commercial/Multi IFR Pilot in Canada.
However, in July 2023 God blessed me with a job offer, and I was then hired to fly the ATR42/72-500 and the 202/212/2012A/300/320 variants.
So, after receiving clearance from the company's operational safety department, I was authorized to film and share my experience with all of you flying up north "Arctic".
This is just the first video of many to come from now on.
In today's video I show you some of the beautiful images of Northeastern Canada, flown from Thompson MB to Iqaluit NT.
Beautiful mountains, snow covering everything, with a go-around and landing.
I hope you enjoy the video!
So, I'll continue the Private Pilot Series and I intend to post the videos both in Portuguese and English.

Congratulations, Gilberto! Beautiful video with surprising and wonderful images. I didn't think you could take off with accumulated snow on the runway. Success and happiness. (Parabéns, Gilberto ! Belo vídeo com imagens surpreendentes e maravilhosas. Não achava que se poderia decolar com neve acumulada na pista.Sucesso e felicidades.)

Thank You Cesar. Canada is very beautiful. I have so many other shots already done just waiting me to edit and post it. Oh yes, we land on gravel runway all covered with ice all times. As long and the Runway Friction Index allow us, we can do that! Thank you for the Portuguese comment as well!

Ok...I'm subscribed! Looks like you are having a great time on the ATR. I always wanted to fly to Sanikiluaq... have you done that trip yet? Can I ask how many hours you had when you were hired at Calm Air? Did you know someone in the company that provided an internal reference? Did you have to sign a training bond? What commercial flying experience did you have before joining Calm Air? Eager to hear your response!

Hello. Yes, I flew to Sanikiluaq many times already. I call Sani “the moon” once it has no trees and the rocks are reddish. I had 280 hours and internal reference. 2 years bond! I flew C280 “safety pilot” and PA31 as FO. The safety pilot hours didnt count for the 280 total. I gave 137.3 on C208.
