It's gonna be quite a while before we can land on planets with an atmosphere. Though with volcanism being added, it's a step in the right direction.

+Elite Dangerous I was able to enter and land on planets forever up until last night. Now every time I attempt to, the game just gives me the message saying "dropping - too close". It doesn't seem to matter what angle or speed I'm going. It won't enter Auto flight anymore. Is there a way to fix this bug or glitch I'm dealing with?

Im on xbox and i have the expansion i have the upgrade and everything that lets me land but when i go to a planet that lets me land i keep getting the "dropping out too close" message im going to a planet with a blue ring and it even has settlements but i have tried about ten different planets and none let me land do u need an srv to land or is that just so u could drive around

You need the SRV if you want to drive around the planet. That happened to me once but only on one planet, I just moved on to another planet

Haven't played for a long time, forgot how to land :P Guess I have to bind my vertical trusters somewhere. Watching this almost 5 years later, it's not evident there' been much development with ED (sure there's been SOME, but I'd hope for more. Atmospheric planets, procedural landscapes, underwater bases, oceans, rivers, weather, cities, civilizations, dinosaurs, cavemen, aliens... alright, I'll stop here :P NMS is cool and all, but it's not quite Elite (hehe) Dangerous, or vice versa. If only they joined forces.)

I have a question im new to this planetary landings and well blah blah blah anyway when u enter I know ur supposed to stay between -60 and 5 degrees but when ever I keep getting closer it keeps going down to DRP the closer I get then it just drops me out saying im "too close" and I have the planetary landing module so I was wondering if that is supposed to happen or not?

+Jacob Dragonblood Anything below 200 km/s should be golden. Next question, are you sure it's a planet you can land on? In the System map it will have a blue crescent around the planet if you're able to land there.

yeah I checked and was heading down between -60 and 5 degrees staying at about 20 or 30 km/s and when I get close right at DRP it says "dropping - too close" and then it just drops me out and I have the module and everything but it keeps dropping me out and ive tried this on 4 ice body planets so far with settlements and stations

+Jacob Dragonblood Huh, well you've stumped me! Sounds like you've checked all the blocks. The only other thing I can think of is, make sure you're selecting Horizons 2.0 and not 1.5 in the launcher :P

+Nowhere Doge The actual answer is... If you already have ED you need to purchase Horizons. If you don't have ED you can just purchase Horizons as it includes all the stud in the original ED game. If you want the technical reasons it's because Horizons is a 64bit program so they have bundled it all in one, while the old ED is 32bit, hence why you have to buy it even if you have the original ED. This is also why you can't play it natively on Macs - they don't support the 64bit shaders required to run it. It's all in the same universe and shares all the same data so a 32bit Mac palyer can still play with a 64bit Horizons player - they just don't get access to land on planets.

+johnnyxp64 Depends. If you stick solely to transporting goods from station to station, it can get mind numbing. The adrenalin filled combat makes up for that though. Getting pulled out of Hyperspace and having to defend my cargo really riles me up. I end up sweating by the end of combat. I also use the peaceful transporting as a sort of relaxant; kind of like Euro Truck Simulator in space. And if that's still not enough, you can enter CQC (Close Quarters Combat) which is a fast death match mode that really allows you to practice your skills. I dont have Horizons (yet) so I cant say how much more interesting it will be, but I personally freak out every time I see footage of SRV combat.

+Kieran Luscombe (Superobbyking) Recommend .H. big time.. Like you I play to relax some what, but combat does drag me out of any form of relaxation by the goo-lads. Its tricky but breaks up the game play some what. Planets just allows you to go anywhere and land anywhere at the same time making you feel small in a big fish pond.

The scale is limited to the Milky way. And though thats not as big as the universe, I've only visited .1% of the stars you can fly to

Wtf? How in the world is the title of this video entirely different on the KZread website of my phone compared to the title version of the video that you can watch using the training mode in the actual game? If you watch this video through the training mode in the game it's actually called "Pilot Training - Landing - Elite dangerous PlayStation 4". Wtf? How are they able to do that? My mind is boggled.

This video is a lie - no one EVER flies ASP scout!

If only it would get given to the older players for free as well instead of the new players only. It's quite unfair that i need to pay another 40 euro's for something that was meant to be in the base game while new players have the full game AND the expention for 40 euro's.

It's not their fault if you didn't read the original kickstarter pledge and didn't watch the videos. Set your expectations based on what they say they are going to do, not what you want. And to +Razor parisis It is my fav game of all time. Sorry you had unrealistic expectations.

+Kelly Rayburn Yes, it is more expensive. €40 for an expansion that makes you land on empty planets. even with my discount its exactly the same price as the base game, which offers a lot more. they should make it around €20 for people who have the game already, like an actual expansion and keep the base game at €40 or with expansion €50. That way you don't screw your loyal playerbase and still offer a nice offer to new players. €40 for an expansion that offers this little is a scam. It's the same greedy crap EA pulled with starwars, yet now it's suddenly acceptable?

Yay to you guys at Elite Dangerous letting us Console players down... Again!!! To anyone who reads this and is thinking about buying Elite Dangerous, buy it on PC. You simple dont get the full game on xbox one and will be let down time and again!

You know, thats te feeling we pc gamers get nearly every time when a new triple a games is coming out. F.e. We had to wait for gta v longer that the ps4 xboxone players even though our system is "older". Mostly its only because this are all different plattforms and a company wants to profit. Fot rockstar games ps4/xboxone were more profitable than pc, for frontier pc more than xbox. But i am sure frontier is working at a xboxone port ;)

+Russell Tokdemir Actually, he was correct when he said Attitude. Attitude is an aspect of flight dynamics and is concerned with the orientation of the aircraft. He mentioned Altimeter separately which references your altitude which of course is your distance from the surface. ;)
