A great sketch Jim. Loved your comments on the ‘simpler times’. I am sure we often look back at these times with an almost romantic view of a better way of life but I am sure the people who lived them thought them to be austere times. However, the comment you made about less distractions hit home with me. I am now finding social media to be getting in the way of me doing the things I want. Yet without social media, I would not learn new techniques or see such great work as yours and other artists. This is not the fault of social media but my own lack of discipline. I am old enough to know what adult life was like before the internet and all its distractions and sometimes look back with rose tinted glasses and wonder if we were better off without it.

I started a long winded, deep, reply, but stopped myself before it became a book! There have always been distractions I guess; as a boy I would lay on the grass looking up at the clouds and dream, now I get transfixed by a youtube video. Both times I could have been pursuing those dreams, or out camping instead of watching someone camp. I have learnt so much from both books and youtube, the trick is to do what you’ve learnt. I’m babbling again. Even in simpler times my mind would have been full of complications :)

Love this sketch inside the cabin. I just found your channel a few hours ago and I'm watching you make one sketch after the other. I should try to sketch along but I'd just get frustrated ( I'm not an artist in any way!)
