@@harleyoyelade9988 He was sad that he had to leave the world too. In Pikmin 3 you see a lot of logs from him, and he doesn't sound like he is only using them. He is enjoying the time too.

I love how this ending shows that Olimars relationship was benefitial to them both. The Pikmin helped Olimar repair his ship, and Olimar helped the Pikmin go from the verge of extinction (since the Onions are dormant) to being able to fend for themselves. I love how every game essentially shows this sort of progression with Pikmin. Sure, they might be used as tools, but at the end of Pikmin 3, they're safe enough to run around after sunset, just to see their new friends off. Pikmin 2 was also just so adorable! With how the Pikmin were stated to recognize Olimar!!!

Pikmin 2's ending was satisfying, and then funny. Pikmin 3's ending was sweet and triumphant. Pikmin's ending makes me cry.

One of the best true endings in all of games, it wraps up every plot line in this game, Olimar fully rebuilds his ship, he escapes from the planet to return home, the Pikmin who were nearly extinct are in healthy numbers compared to what they were once, the Pikmin finally start becoming capable of fending for themselves, and it gives bright hope for both Olimar along with every type of Pikmin! It is so amazing I can’t help but almost tear up whenever I try to describe it, since thanks to the future installments, we get to see the impact Olimar had on them and it is really hopeful for a species that was nearly extinct.

the enemies in the second game are all noticeably weaker, probably as a direct result of this. olimar pretty much created an apex predator that could've completely ruined an ecosystem. i do really like this ending, but it also shows how severely outside interference by humans (or hocatations in this case) can change an ecosystem completely.

​​@@jaspertyler4557Reading this, I realized it's such a missed opprutunity to have enemies attack each other in controlled senarios or randomly, especially with the elemental attacks. Would have been extra gruesome to start a bossfight with some small enemy getting wrecked or eaten by the boss.

I cried when they held hands as olimar said his goodbye and took off.

This is what hits me hard. Olimar has finally found all 30 parts of the Dolphin, finally being able to return home and escape the planet's oxygen (which is lethal to hocotatians), but it's clear he's grown attacked to the pikmin he himself has discovered, but he knows he must go if his family were to see him again. And the Pikmin can finally learn how to defend themselves on their own.

This is one of the few games of my childhood that has a happy ending that made me cry. Mainly because I didn't want my adventure with the Pikmin to end. I had so much fun exploring and getting to know them. Even to this day the music gives me goosebumps and hell even tears me up sometimes. :)

I love Captain Olimar. He’s one of the coolest video game characters there is. Also a part of my childhood. Glad he’s in smash bros. Pikmin, Pikmin 2, and Pikmin 3 were all great stories. The first game is still my favorite of the 3. Even after all these years.

I love how we don't just leave with a teary farewell, we leave knowing the pikmin have learned to fend for themselves like a family ^_^~

unfortunately glow pikmin do not have an onion, neither do orange pikmin but there is a pikmin 2 mod that has orange pikmin (which are immune to explosions)

Me too, the music gives a strong feeling of judgment. Of course on the good ending the judgment is "You win, now Olimar's life has been spared"

I remembed that as a kid i could never beat this game. Then when I grew up I went back at it determined and beat it, seeing this ending for the first time and finally completing my childhood. A game that gave me my obssesion for outter space and spaceships.

I really hope Pikmin 4 didn't retcon this ending. It would completely undermine Olimar's triumphant escape. And him returning multiple times doesn't undermine it because how much he bonded with the pikmin. I can see him returning willingly.

This ending is already undermined immediately in 2 tho lmao, at least in 4 (which IS a soft reboot of the entire series) Olimar does come back to his family and this time Louie can’t ruin it

Probably not, he still had 10 more days after that. He could just leave it there and pick it up the next day.

I see cyan, black, green, orange, pink, and purple onions at 2:18, since Pikmin 3 has been worked on for so long I say that ALL of those onions will be there and it will be a massive game, possibly over the entire planet, if I'm not mistaken, he's only been to Africa when he crash landed in Pikmin 2, I think that North America would REALLY get them rich :D can't wait for Pikmin 3!!!
