You can't let everyone speak unlimited on a show though. Then you have twice the showtime at least. I think he's doing a good job in general. Here in the Netherlands we don't have anyone who dares to speak up to anyone on national TV so this is what i rather watch. 😮😅 I do get what you mean though because he does shut conversations down sometimes.

I never thought anything of the monarchy, until we lost the Queen. The public were never reminded enough of what a woman The Queen was, that’s why people didn’t know her enough. If people took the time to see how much turmoil and at such a young age, she handled everything with grace. She had no choice what preceded her. the country has not been the same and I feel like something is missing since she passed.

It would be more useful to highlight the huge funds the Royal Family brings in through Tourism, the enormous funds their philanthropic patronages attract and the people they help, the unique diplomatic skills and the relationships they maintain with other countries that cannot be replicated by any politician or celebrity, instead of just focusing on respect alone. People who don’t get it need to understand numbers and benefit to the regular public

American here. I love the “comfort blanket” (as Piers M described the RF) of the monarchy. People all over the world look up to the RF. There is a lot of meanness in the world. The RF is kind and dignified, supporting wonderful causes and charities. I think the UK is lucky to have the history, traditions and civility of the monarchy.

Today’s Americans overall respect and admire your monarchy and your countries. We love the UK over here!

4.6 billion people are not a fantasy. 4.6 billion people watched out of respect and grief for a woman they knew their whole life. She was a comfort to many people. People lined up for days for that 1 second of seeing her laying in state. Many people had the same answer when asked why they were there. They were there for their parents and grandparents. That alone proves the respect and loyalty the queen showed to people. These people did the same for her. She spent 70 years looking out for people and they were willing to wait day's to show her the love she gave them. It isn't a fantasy. It's loyalty and respect.

Getting rid of the Monarchy would be disaster. Having an elected person to replace it could give us a President Sturgeon or Blair or someone else equally self serving. Just look at the MPs in the House of Commons from all parties. There isn't one of them who I would vote for as a Head of State .

@What’s good Millions of tourists from across the world come to look at nothing?

I'm an American, my ancestors came of the UK. I have more Scottish DNA then anything else. Anyway, I have always been fasinated by the Monarch and Queen Elizabeth was one of a kind. Much respect for her. I think the monarch should survive. They do so much good and what they bring into the country is well worth keeping them.

As an American, I think that a monarchy couldn’t work here in America but it is a great system over there. It allows the politicians to focus on political things and the royal family to handle the social requirements of a country. They also do a lot of work for charity. They bring up “what if Andrew was oldest” but he isn’t. Charles is. And then it is William and there is no sign that he is an Andrew. After that is George and time will tell how he turns out but how about waiting to cross the bridge of an “Andrew” being the one to inherit till that time comes about. You’ve got about 75 years of reign in front of you without a sign of a bad head of state

I'm also an American and I 100% agree. I would NEVER support a monarchy in America, but Britain isn't America and America isn't Britain. The British monarchy is over 1100 years old and in modern times is almost entirely ceremonial. There's no point in having an elected head of state if he/she has no real political power, especially in a country like Britain where the monarchy is such a vital institution. It's also important to our alliance with Britain because as an apolitical institution, they serve to bridge the gap between our government and the British parliament in a way that creates unified support in both countries.

God save the King!!! Long live the monarchy.

I’m an American and I’ve never met a single American that gives a single **** about the royals. Not one. I do realize that their are some Americans oddly obsessed with Diana predominately because of her death and the drama and mystery of it all or because how she’s since her death been painted as an iconic fashion figure. Some Americans love the drama like a real life soap opera as well and with the royal family it never ends.I also realize some Americans.. girls mostly.. are in love with the idea of kings and queens and prince and princesses like a fairytale dream which has nothing to do with reality. What utmost respect is it that you have truly?Not nonsensical fairytale reasons but legit reason to have the utmost respect for royals? Don’t just give me an answer about a nice old lady either please as you’ve said the royals not just the Queen. What do you love about them? Which ones specifically and why. Genuinely curious.

I believe PM's and Presidents have agendas as they come and go! If there is a leader such as our late Queen who spreads compassion, peace, understanding, wisdom, dignity and grace...at the same time being apolitical yet a constant comfort, and we all need that of our leaders! As a Canadian I will still love the Monarchy and I'm patient and willing to see what our new King brings to the table! I'd like to give Charles a chance since he hasn't really had one yet with all the division that Megan has brought to the UK, commonwealth and the RF! I just wish all the leaders of all countries would stop putting money into these climate change (in the future) fears they try and push!

Part of the reason I want relocate to the UK is for the Monarchy. I don’t want to live in a Republic. It’s far too divisive.

Since Mr. Smith has never been to the US, then he can't possibly fathom how shaken this country would be if suddenly the British monarchy went away. Truly, we probably wouldn't know what to do over here. It has nothing to do with whether we fought to *not* be ruled by a monarch, it's such a constant in an ever-changing world that losing it would be almost unfathomable to most of us.

Look Piers, as a Brazilian who leaves in England for the least 24 years and have 2 British Citizens sons, I can only tell you that my only hope it's that YOU can start a revolution to kick out everyone who is against the monarch, who it's against should be out of the country... British people should reinforced the meaning of British traditions... who are these other nationalities to tell British people how to leave???... Britain is for British people and any other nationality who comes over should respect and walk together with it...

It would be so much more enjoyable and educational if Piers would have a calm conversation allowing each guest to interact with him (and his opinion on the subject) without all the YELLING over his guests like a bull in a china shop to the point that I can’t make sense of the majority of what is being said. I enjoy Piers when he acts civil. I don’t like shouting matches. Nobody truly wins. Watch piers being interviewed by Ben Shapiro 2 days ago and even though I am aware they share similar views on the subject of H and M it was nice to see a civil discourse with Piers involved that I could listen to without cringing. When he adds Tessa Dunlop to his commentator panel it becomes almost unbearable. I can tell he enjoys sparring with her and others who support H and M though!🤣🤣 Just my opinion and even with that opinion I will continue to watch when he covers HM and the Monarchy as he speaks what I believe is true.

Quite honestly I can't imagine anyone wanting to visit the UK if the Royal Family didn't exist🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦

My problem is that the royal family get to live royally well beyond the means of millions of others just bc of what?

I'm an American, and while I generally prefer elected heads of state, I think it would be a terrible mistake for the British monarchy to be abolished. It's a vital part of British history and culture, and it's one of the things that sets them apart from us. In addition, because the British monarch's role is almost entirely symbolic, it makes little sense to replace that with an elected head of state whose role is also almost entirely symbolic, especially when it requires the scrapping of an 1100+ year old institution. In a parliamentary system, there's really no difference between a hereditary head of state and an elected one, at least when it comes to their role.

Then let it be important to Britain why do other countries who want to get out still have to be apart of it? I'm saying this as a Jamaican American. Jamaica is the only commonwealth country that isn't even allowed to visit England without a visa. Modern infrastructure on the island is done through deals with China to build the highways and a Mexican company runs and maintains the airports even though they're all the property of the Jamaican government. So why is the monarchy needed for an island like that?

Totally agree 👍 with you on this one. My mother born same year as queen 👑 American, always followed RESPECTED her. WWII still stayed even after bombing of Palace... I born some year Elizabeth became Queen 👑 My mother predicted this whole situation that's happening right now decades ago. Truly blowing my mind to think my mother could predict THE FUTURE. MAY they both RIP. Thank you for your time.

They approve every prime minister and law and when there is an important event like D-day anniversary or something like the Olympic or commonwealth games, they are there as well. When people thought of the UK before the Queen died, they usually thought of The Queen first, instead of liz truss!

Your Royal Monarchy has survived for over a Thousand years for a reason. Don’t give up on it now just because of a few bad apples it has in the family. The RF does wonderful work for the people. We In America can’t always say that about our politicians who forget that they are suppose to be Civil Servants for the people.

Do you imagine that's some kind of argument? Try thinking a little bit more. Republicanism isn't about right vs. left, it's about right vs. wrong. I'm on the political right. Johnson was never someone I wanted as PM, but even if people decided they wanted him for president, why is my vote worth more than anyone elses? Plus, anyone voted *in* can be voted *out*. Would you vote for Charles? William? Archie? Well, tough, they're going to be imposed on you anyway.

I’ve gotta say I disagree with piers on this. I think it’s ridiculous to have a monarchy in this day and age. You get to be a king or queen just because you were born into a family ?? It’s absolutely ridiculous. What makes these ppl so fucking special ?

I’m Australian. I hate the fact we are not putting the King on our money. I have huge respect for that family and our heritage. Apart from one curtain member who’s name starts with H. You get one of those in most families though.

I'm with you Piers and I'm an American - DEFEND THE QUEEN - even though I can't and wouldn't defend our President Biden - I think Queen Elizabeth was a woman of Grace and Peace - and I think the whole world is at a great loss without her voice. She was at her best in the worst and hardest of times. I love The Queen and always will - to me she was like the worlds grandmother for a long time. I'll never forget her.

They don't. Royal patronage if anything has a negative influence on charities. You can look it up. But even if they did, that's no reason for them to have extraordinary constitutional powers and privileges.

As a US citizen, I have more respect for Queen Elizabeth than almost any other leader in my lifetime. She set an example the whole world should follow.

You people may love the queen all you want but yes its imagination. First of all she is one of the monarchs but she was not monarchy. Pierce avoids that argument through the whole interview. She happen to be OK possibly but we don't' know that since she had propaganda behind her for so long. Second she was institution. She had state propaganda behind her for 70 years! That's why she met all the presidents not because she was extraordinary and super smart but she did not have ruling term like all politician. It was twist of luck that she became queen at all since her uncle left and then her father died when she was really young and then she was blessed with very long life. That's it! They had 70 years to make an icon out of her. Stalin and Hitler managed to that in way shorter time but that doesn't make them good, does it? But even if all is true about her, she WAS NOT monarchy she was monarch. And you can see the difference now when she is gone where you have guy who lots of people don't like but still can't get rid of him.
