The guys here forgot to mention Jontay Porter tore his ACL and had surgery. Growing up he went through alot. They make it sound as though he didn't want to work on himself getting the NBA contract. He did, but was plagued with injury. Maybe Jontay felt his knee couldn't keep up with the physicality of the NBA and decided to do what he did. I'm not defending him. Just trying to understand why he did what he did if it is true.

I see a lot of sentiment similar to "you shouldnt bet on guys like this" but in player props its all about finding perceived edge against the bookmaker. If the book is offering his under at favorable odds there's no reason you shouldn't try to find an edge against their odds. The sentiment that you should only bet on popular players isn't based on reality. People act like player props are in a vacuum but they're attached to bookmaker odds that informed bettors are using to make decisions. Saying a prop is bad without mentioning odds is an ignorant argument Terrible that Jontay did this but I think this kind of exposure will only help to start to curtail stuff like this from lesser known players in the future. They are not stealing from bookmakers they are stealing from individuals. I don't know who needs to hear this but the bookmakers are not to blame - they are doing just fine without rigging bets because every single prop has built in margin for house profit, the people losing and making money are bettors, and odds change based on cash on either side of the prop to ensure this is always true. The circumstances where books have enough risk to lose money is rare and the vigorish is built into the odds.
