The video will talk the "Pierce" in fiber laser cutting and perforation in laser cutting. There are two videos "this video and next video".
Our first question is why we need “Pierce”. Perforation quality can easily lead to cutting and processing good or not, especially in thick metal cutting. In general fiber laser cutting, most of the time, we won’t start cutting from the edge of metal plate. So we need to punch a small hole in the plate and then cut from it.

Thank you for the videos Clara they are very detailed. I think the slower piercing method is good for me and I will try today as we have normally a large hole and spatter. Can you do a video on the best gas, nozzle, parameters etc to cut galvanised sheet please? We have trouble with getting a clean cut as there is always dross on the back! Very annoying. We have tried everything! Please help ❤️👍

Hi Clara! I am having problems with my pierce height. My laser starts off piercing as programmed at 3mm height but after a few minutes it starts piercing higher and higher. It will eventually end up over 25mm and at that height it is leaving big burn marks about 2-3mm wide because of the focus. If I pause the machine for a few minutes then resume it goes back piercing at the correct height of 3mm but a couple of minutes later it starts getting higher again. Any idea what is happening?
