Pieiron apple pie and apple fritters + campfire dulce de leche
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I dusted off the pieirons for a little backyard firepit experimentation, with Fall vibes! We baked an apple in the fire, with cinnamon and butter, and used it in an apple fritter like device. But then I saw a Tiktok or Reel or whatever, where they baked apple rings in puff pastry, so of course I had to try that too. And to top it all off, I read somewhere that you can make caramel (technically, dulce de leche) by crockpotting a can of sweetened condensed milk. So I tried that out in the mess kit.

Oh my! I love apple fritters, apples and caramel! I may have to buy a pie iron! I'm definitely sharing this video with my daughter who does have a pie iron! Thanks ❣️😊👍
I recently discovered your channel and I have to say that we are two peas in a pod in regard to camping style. I too enjoy solo camping for the tranquility it provides. Your pie iron videos have gotten me to get mine from storage and try some of your ideas which are great and yummy looking. Thanks for sharing your ideas and happy travels...

Now that highs are finally below 100, I had to celebrate accordingly!
Now I know where MILK CARAMEL comes from! I love your - many - background bird songs!

Thank you! We have a bunch of doves and sparrows who visit regularly. Oftentimes, grackles, crows, mockingbirds, and hummingbirds are around too.
Bookmarked, liked, and can't wait to make these. This video brought back memories of my mom's baked stuffed apples and my namesake country aunt on Sunday mornings, recycling pie crust remnants into cinnamon sugar chips. Thanks again, Martha. Keep doing you. Bright blessings. 💖

Nice! I hope they turn out well for you and happy camping! 🥧
Definitely gonna try these!
Great video. I heat up canned chili, stews and soup, all the time, by boiling the can.

Yum. Those look great!
Love the pie iron cooking..👍
OMG Yum!
Love your cooking videos ❤
Total yum! Try with a thin slice of cheddar cheese too….sounds weird but so good. Glad you are still posting, I do miss your outings, although I do understand the need to stay put for awhile. You going to Quartzite again this year, or was it not your cup a tea? I am attempting to go to the WRTR just to experience it, then to or from Joshua tree in Jan.

I lived in the mid-Atlantic for a while -- am familiar with chedd on apple pie. It's a PA thing, I think? I'm not opposed to the idea. My travel ban has lifted, and I'm heading out very soon! Already have solid plans for Dec and a rough idea for Jan as well. I don't think I'll go to RTR/WRTR -- seemed more for long-term travelers. But I think I probably will attend Vanlife Pride again, depending on the location. If not, I have a backup bookdocking spot in mind.
Yum!🍎
Oh boy, thank you!
Thanks!
no mini choc chips inside with the peanut butter on the bonus dessert does leave me questioning the status of our relationship 🤔😆

😅 I am not gonna argue with that ingredient combo 😋, but this one was pretty good too.
How fun. Love them both. Need to figure out how I could do with sourdough bread. I've been wanting to try the dulce de leche with coconut sweetened condensed milk but have been afraid of exploding cans

Yum! I think as long as it’s fully submerged, you should be ok 🫣
So, how was the banana, caramel, and nuts in pastry?? Loved these ideas!

Very good! The banana basically melts and becomes a creamy filling. In the video that inspired that recipe, the person used chocolate in the banana, instead of caramel. So that's an option too! Also if wrapping it is too much of a pain, I also did it as a square, with slices of banana inside.
A dollop of brie cheese

I could get down with that 🤔
What is the iron you used with the bananas?

It is this one, but it appears to be out of stock. Darn shame, because I had a really hard time finding one that comes apart and does not have grill lines or ridges. amzn.to/4dN2Hio
