The C Major Scale - Piano Lessons
The C major scale is usually the first scale piano players learn. It has 8 notes, and starts and ends on C. They are c d -e -f - a-b c.
Visually, it's probably the easiest, because it is all white notes. As long as you know where C is, you will be able to play the correct notes.
The part that can be tricky is getting the correct fingering. The thing to remember is that the thumbs and third fingers are the ones doing the tucking or crossing.
The right hand starts with the thumb on C and continues stepping up to the third finger. After that, the thumb tucks under the middle finger to the next note (F) and this allows the rest of the fingers to get in place. After the thumb plays, continue stepping up to C. To come back down the scale, reverse the fingering.
The left hand starts with the pinky on C and steps up to the thumb which is on G. Then the middle finger crosses over the thumb and plays the A. The pointer finger and thumb finish up the scale.
C Major Scale fingering for the right hand
C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C
1-2- 3-1- 2-3-4-5
C Major Scale fingering for the left hand
C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C
5-4- 3- 2-1- 3-2-1

I'm starting young at 12 but good luck
Just bought a keyboard at 57. Thank you. Luckily I have been playing a bad guitar since I was 15 so I have picked up a bit of music theory. I'm a slow study. I'm loving my new piano keyboard.
Just what I've been needing to thoroughly understand finger positions. Thank you. Jesus loves you all.
I can almost play with 2 hands! I have been practing 10 minutes a day for 8 days now so perhaps just a few more days to play this flawlessly.
I agree So important to play a scale the right way ❤
I noticed a lot of comments were from people who were beginning their music journey later in life ..music comes from the heart...one can learn at any age 🎶🎹💙

Agreed,I started at age 35,and now at 55,I still play as well as compose music. Most people I associate with started as kids. Been a truck driver for 29 years and in my travels I'd stop at music stores to practice.
thank you. i took piano lessons as a child for 7 years and i want to remember the fingerings so that i can play again.

Same here. When I was a kid I started practicing and playing songs by ear on my own on an old and out-of-tune piano we had in a shed behind the house. My mom then made me take piano lessons on Saturdays, on top of regular school, which killed my interest in piano. When I became an adult living on my own, I bought a used Tyros (and a few other synths and gear) and continued to teach myself songs by ear. I don't know the first thing about scales or chords or reading music -- I just know to play this song, I play these notes in this order; and to play that song, I play those notes in that order, lol.
Thank you so much ma’am, for helping to understand patiently. Please help with all major and minor scales .
This lesson was AWESOME! I love your channel! It's exactly what I was looking for! My sister had forgotten her C scale and she remembered what her teacher showed her soon after watching your video. I can also learn to play it with both hands now. Thank you!

Hey I have a question..... Can we play C major scale with a Root note D .!?!?
You are so good! I needed so much help on the C mahor scale as i have a test soon and you helpes alot. Im 11 btw! You are amazing!
Thank you so much i didnt pay any attention in class
Me : when i dont have a piano and my exam it close by 😢 Thank you so much for showing it ! 😊
Yep thanks music teacher showed me this its indeed the other way around 🙂
Is this the correct fingering? I was taught to tuck my thumb on F and G and not to use all five fingers because your pinky and thumb land naturally back on C If you tuck the thumb on F ascending and tuck the thumb on G when you descend. Am I playing the C scale wrong?
Good
After i finished waterfall etude i start practising this nojoke
can you show how to play a sus 3-4 on C major chord? If that makes sense? I am a newbie.
@bm1259
5 жыл бұрын
Theres no such thing as a sus 3 btw theres only sus 2 and sus 4. A Csus 2 is C D G and Csus 4 is C F G.
This is bloody difficult to do at same time. For whatever reason when I get to the fourth note on my left hand i want to instinctively play it with my thumb because im switching to my thumb on my right. I cant do the brain doing two things at same time.
I’ve been haunted by guitar app adds for years watches one piano lesson instantly gets piano ads smh🥴

Right, so I'll just get three more fingers on each hand, as my coordination isn't that great.
Actually it is the hardest scale
