People who "don't like" physical media are blithely unaware of what is going on.....streaming has its place, and in certain situations, like when traveling, but it's like paying to look at your buddie's card collection, at the end of the day your don't own it, and what's worse, it can be altered or removed on the whim of whoever owns the rights. Fortunately there are companies like Arrow who are dedicated to producing high quality physical media. Vote with your dollars, people.

My physical media collection is currently over 1900 movies and counting. I would say that 75% in my collection does not exist anymore on streaming media. I have all the Godzilla movies on physical media and in some cases the same movie in different versions from different sources. Some Godzilla movies in my collection are highly sought after because they are no longer in print.

Exactly. On a similar note, to prove your point about "not really owning your media", Blizzard just put in a new clause into the EULA that literally states you (being us) are only borrowing/leasing the games thru them and that they (Blizzard) own everything and if you don't like it either get a refund back or suck it up (if you can't) and just don't play.

I agree; I'm a firm believe in the value of Physical Media & have quite a sizable collection of it, to which I've added over the past several decades. I for one will be looking forward to the day when Godzilla Minus One gets a BluRay release here in the United States & I'll be among the first to buy a copy.

The whole scene is so TENSE, and my wife was literally squirming in her seat. The moment when he stands up out of the water after nuking the Takao was as big of a "WTF NOW?!/We're F***ed" moment as any you'll see in any movie.

I rewatched it in Monochrome, legit felt like a horror movie 💀

From the interviews I saw, the director let it slip that it would be in IMAX format with distribution from Criterion or Warner. Which would come out as soon as the Legendary film wasn't in theaters. He also promised exclusive material for the international version. Will we have a collector's version with an action figure?

Godzilla Minus One is released in its region, which has few English-speaking audiences. Why should Gran Torino (About the Hmong American experience) be released with Hmong subtitles when there isn’t a market for it (I’m Hmong, BTW)? Once when Godzilla MInus One goes international, it’ll only has the most popular subs and some audio dubs, but as of now, we are just having a first-world issue because we “wants it-my, precious!.”

I believe that a Blu-Ray/DVD release of this masterpiece would probably be released around this year to commemorate Godzilla’s first film releases in November in Japan in 1954. So, it would stand to reason that it would be released around that time.

You got your sources mixed up. The movie commemorates were done when this movie was released last year, November 3😂. The same date, godzilla 1954 was released. It was clearly stated. Why wait that long, dude? Do some research.

Just the Godzilla trailers alone look better than anything coming out of Hollywood. In fact, any Godzilla movie ever made from Hollywood ‘flopped’ at the box office. And very rarely has any horror movie made in Hollywood won an Oscar. 🤔🤷🏼🙄

Even if they only give you the color version you can go to menu on your smart TV, go to picture, scroll down to color and lower the color to zero and your TV will be showing everything you watch in Black and white until you go through the same process and add the color back. I watch a lot Godzilla and Gamera movies in color and black and white. Ghidorah is insane in black and white. Your eyes focus on all the different colors so when you watch in Black and White you focus more on the movie. It's like watching a whole nother movie. Try it with some of the Godzilla movies you already have.

This is true but it wouldn't be exactly the same. For Minus One, they re-edited/retouched scenes in the movie to make sure it looks as good as it can in black and white, they didn't just add a filter on it. Which is just even more praise for Minus one, they really went above and beyond for everything

Yes of course, I am only saying if they don't release the black and white version doesn't mean you can't watch it in Black and white. I watched Godzilla King of the Monsters from 2019 in Black and White and Ghidorah was insane in black and white. There was never a black and white version of it but it can be watched without Color. What you are talking about is 2024 Black and White technology which of course is better than the past technology but you can still watch them in black and white and they are still good.

I have moved on to digital releases, but I still collect movies I love on physical media. Godzilla Minus One will be such a gem. I wanted a steel version as soon as it is available, but for now, whatever it comes to the US, I will still buy it. I am pairing this with Oppenheimer as a double feature.

It doesn't have English subs. Otherwise, I'd nab a copy. And I saw someone post that a golden Godzilla figure comes with certain sets, but I can't find that anywhere except an ebay seller.

​@@bushidoblues9302 the gold figure was offered with initial pre orders but I believe they sold out within the first day. Regardless of English subtitles, I ordered the 4k blu ray set. I saw it so many times in theaters I don't even need the subtitles.

I hope it gets a region 1 release soon. My Blu-ray player has been begging for it for months now.

I missed the first 10 minutes in theaters due to construction. I can't wait to see it at home. I've been binge watching the old ones.

Here in Japan, Amazon preorders will ship on the April 30th, but no English subtitles. I missed the theatrical release due to work, but ordered the B/W version and now have something to look forward to. I haven't bought a DVD in years but am sure thi will be a keeper.

Just a PSA. The Japanese blu-ray disc set is widely available on ebay. Both North America and Japan are region A, so there should be no problem playing it on your player of choice. As one would imagine, prices vary, but on average the going rate is around $100 + $20 international shipping. Definitely not for the fair weather fan, but possibly worth it to own a seriously genuine original physical copy.

It’s just as easy to create a Amazon account from the Japanese store and choose international shipping available option and have it shipped to you from Japan as I am from Canada and I have already pre ordered mine from the Japanese Amazon website as well as had previously purchased CD’s and Bluray movies and other items from Japan and yes it is more money because of the exchange rate but it’s worth it

That set looks great. Glad I have an all-region player. Also, if We never get the B&W release in the U.S. and you really want to watch it in black and white, it's pretty easy to just turn down the color on your TV.

When it comes to digital release. It usually comes out a month or two before the blu-ray/dvd release

Welp I'm heading to Japan soon for a trip so looks like I'll pick one up when I'm down there.

I was able to watch over here in the uk but I had a “carer” go see it with me and it did look quite interesting

I expect delivery during the first week of May. Great movie!

When do we get American release English dubbed?

According to some articles, we can expect BD release across seas in the US by about Fall to Winter of 2024. I'm def hoping for it cuz the regular and/or some higher version of the release will include the monochrome (black and white) version, and I'm all for it cuz I seen both. So many powerful scenes.

They’re going to release it in the US with the English dub and subs. Most of the work that went into the Shin Godzilla blu ray was dubbing the special features and whatnot. The whole film had to be reworked

I believe Godzilla Minus One physical DVD and Blu-Ray are gonna come out internally somewhere in the fall, just somewhere in the fall

And do you know how much it the DVDS will cost in English money? I would like to know?

Nothing confirmed, but we're guessing September. All 4k discs are region free, so as long as it has English subs, you'd be able to watch it.

Toho has a deal with Legendary never to put out a move the same Calendar year internationally. If the Blue ray is released this year in the US, it will most likely be after the theatrical release of Godzilla X Kong.

Probably not due to the agreement with the Godzilla Legacy films. They aren’t allowed to release it in theaters alongside Godzilla X Kong.

Shin Godzilla was only subbed when in theaters but became dubbed in English when released on physical copy.

Generally speaking, most US releases come 30 to 60 days after the Japanese release. There are of course exceptions but, this at least gives us a ball park to hope for.

If they want to get huge sales in America, they have to do an English dub version!

Why would you not like physical releases? What happens if your internet goes down? What if the internet itself goes out worldwide or regionally for some reason? What if you download it and then your computer ends up dying a little later? I mean... If any of those things happen... A physical copy could still work really well for you as long as you still have electricity, something to play it in, and a screen for it. lol.

Waiting for the 4K ultra....

Man, I'm gonna get that s--t imported, asap. Go go Godzilla!

I don't think we'll see a -1 release stateside until 2025 at the earliest due to the Toho/Legendary contract. When it does release... I hope it comes with both the original language AND a dubbed version.

I hear some rumors about it released in November. But this movie should've been dubbed or switched to English almost immediately upon release in Japan. I want to see this now at home and I don't want to wait several months.

Im 100% buying this day one when it comes out on blu ray. I just want to watch it again!

If it had subtitles I'd be tempted to buy the set and a Japanese blu-ray player. Assuming I could send the output to my US TV.
