Phoenix Point Class Guide: Assault

Ойындар

The assault class is your solid, balanced, middle performer of the early game class. They lack the early game weaknesses of the heavies, but aren't the crutch that the snipers will be early on.
Pretty quickly though, assaults mature into extremely effective operatives. At their heart, they give you mobility, flexibility, and one of the most powerful kill chaining abilities in the game, serving up up a class that can do a dynamic clearance with a shotgun, or anchor the team with an assault rifle.
Assaults are cheap (compared to heavies) cross class effectively, and are useful from level 2 all the way through to their engame status as psychotic spree killers that can put down half a dozen targets in the space of a few seconds.
If you absolutely, positively have to clear a map in one turn, you're going to want an assault.

Hello. I want to thank you for all tutorials so far, i wathched them all. I dont have time to play game 100x times tu understand balance, pacing and other things in PP. Your videos helped me a lot to understand game and enjoy it more, broken and unbalanced as it is ))))

My thoughts exactly. Learning mechanics is great if you can manage it but I don’t dedicate tons of time to any one game. Still fun to learn this stuff from those who did it the hard way.

There is no way around the fact that the balance in this game has all kinds of weirds quirks. Once you do figure out how to navigate them though, I very much enjoy the game. I will say that when the game came out, the balance was basically non-existent, things are actually much better than they were.

Nice video. Ready for Action is awesome in scavenging missions. Run up to a crate with a another class and then get your assault next to it, you can loot the crate for free and have access to both soldiers their inventories.

Would probably never go Assault->Technician, but I think Technician->Assault can work as a support class (if you bother with support characters...) as helps with slinging out multiple turrets, or dashing to heal.

That's something I'll definitely try to cover when I do the Technician class. I'm not a fan of dedicated support platforms other than priests, but I'll flag the potential of that combo.

Technician -> assault accomplishes the exact same thing except it's more expensive because iirc technicians tend to cost more resources overall to recruit.

I played laser squad back in the day, yes, I am that old. Two crits I have with Phoenix Point. Grenades can only be thrown overarm. They cannot be rolled or dropped. No smoke grenades. These two points aside, the best of the genre so far.

I don't think I've ever done a play through without an assult/technician, with the Tier 2 bionic chest the free bag actions is just too good for that class, dash is always good for getting into the chokepoints or to units needing repair, and being able to Give two action points to your other combat units once the turrets are down is a great help.

This is some great insight because I'll be the first to admit....I don't run many technicians. I appreciate some of what they provide, but I've just always gotten better results per invested resource (because technicians are resource hogs) into other classes and combos.

Hi man great video I just wanted to say heavy/assault with melee weapon worked great for me since you can reduce the ap of melee to 1 with a bionic I literally cleared the entire area before the gate i nthe final misson (except for the scyllas) with 1 character in 1 turn (including all the chirons) on the hardest difficulty, it works:)

You can go further and murder Scyllas no problem using that build. In fact if it spawns worms it's even easier, because you can just go to town with a Scyther. It's pretty brutal actually.

The only hand held grenades I enjoy are the incendiary ones. I use them all the time during a base defense mission. Block the entrance and let them try to come in. The other main use I have for them is umbras. I learned if the enemy is surrounded in flames then you kill him. The umbra won't even spawn.

Are you saying that the assault can actually have 5 AP+ while using Rapid Clearance?

  • @nathanmitchell9695
    @nathanmitchell9695 Жыл бұрын

I have to say I disagree with your assessment that Priests and Technicians don't multiclass well with Assaults based on the notion that they don't make good use of Rapid Clearance compared to other classes. Rather, I feel that they fill a different role in the party. Assault/Priest can use Frenzy and Onslaught to be all the support a Terminator will ever need beyond scouting. While you can do something similar with Assault/Technician with healing and Onslaught, I've found a niche using Ready for Action and the ability to yeet an entire pack of turrets out to fight for you while staying out of line of sight.

Grab an aspida, pair it with some kind of technician and you can get four zaps off a turn, the zap from the vehicle is a way higher value. I run a 3 man+aspida team whose sole purpose is filling my capture tanks
