I'm not defending him or hounding him, but I will say having worked hard to be very successful and what many would class as extremely wealthy lifestyle and very high up in my career.... Then becoming disabled losing my business and literally everything else even becoming homeless due to abusive relationship and now being actuall poor and on benefits. Having lived extreme luxury, and still adjusting after years to poverty.... The saying money can buy luxuries but it's doesn't buy happiness is very very true. Doesn't matter how many millions someone has or how luxurious the lifestyle... That's not where happiness or peace is and most often those people are severely mentally unwell searching to fill voids. Again generally speaking and not defending or bemoaning Philip. Just pointing out, from a place of poverty and having had money. That it doesn't bring happiness. I cannot remember the differences between the various forms of narcissism but I’m inclined to agree. This guy has lied (he’s admitted that), he has done wrong (he’s admitted that) and now he is facing the consequences. YET, SOMEHOW, he still plays the victim with all of this ‘woe is me’ rhetoric. ​@@johnross2924maybe not, but the point is that a successful TV personality developing a "friendship" with someone decades younger than him and helping him get into the industry isn't what people have a problem with. Youth outreach is after all a good thing. But knowing someone when they were a teenager then having a sexual relationship as shortly after it becomes "legal", when there is a power inbalence, is wrong. No question. Think about how HR departments hate a boss going into a relationship with an employee because of all the legal implications that can arise if it becomes sour. This is just a very extreme version of that. I'm trying to understand the perspective of people who are defending his actions, but I just cant. If anyone wants to I'm genuinely intersted.

I just dont think that is a convincing arguement because I'm not convinced that a young 16 year old would have the maturity to reject advances by someone like him who has much more power. And EVEN if he did, the power dynamic makes it inappropriate for Schofield to even let the relationship advance beyond a mentor role, regardless of who initiated it.

He mentioned how bad he feels for the young man, but he has never said how awful it must be for his ex wife, who was lied to and kept in the dark for years while she brought up their two daughters. Oh and he has not lost everything, he still has the enormous amount of money he made during his stint at ITV . He can disappear and enjoy a quiet peaceful life somewhere out of sight and this will be just a bad memory for him, not so for others that have been damaged.
