In this video I tear down/disassemble a Philips 3000 series shaver. You might want to do this for a few reasons, firstly to clean it fully (it is only sealed against water/dirt in the battery compartment), to replace or to re-cycle the Li-ion battery.

Found a broken ground on the motor. I was able to strip the wire and heat the old solder and attach the new exposed wire. Worked like a charm. Thank you for the video.

Interesting, glad it helped fix it
Just realized that inside the shaver there is a 3 level battery indicator. The plastic on top covers the two of them so from the outside yours only has one indicator. Damn.

There are several small variations on the battery indicator, but frankly it makes little difference it just flashes when it's low

@@MrBazReviews Well yea but I found it interesting how the model with one battery indicator has 3 on the inside but not used. All that changes when you get the 3 charge indicator model is the plastic on top

@@leonmacwell spotted, many manufacturers do that, cheaper to make in bulk but they can still have price points with better "features".

@@MrAllstar Well yeah, that makes sense. I’m just surprised every time I see a case like it, it almost looks counter productive so I’m always amazed by the fact that it actually does save money lol
I didn’t know they had soldered in cells : I followed the video step by step as I was doing it . Anyway it is what it is .

They do it so if you drop the item it won't disconnect or the terminals get damaged, but it would be a lot easier if you could just slot a cell into the body or they had an easy access to the battery.
Great demonstration of how to replace battery in shaver. Would need more info on the type of battery, size, voltage and is it mercury etc. Where to buy one etc.

Simply read the code on the battery, you can then order a replacement. Such as from here: bitly.ws/SpPJ
Thank you ❤

No problem
Our heads have a notch in them not the little wings. How do you know where the notch goes? We cleaned it and now one head isn’t rotating but the shaft spins fine. Thanks!

I have not seen that design, keep turning the foils/cutters by hand until they slot in. Or look at the other cutters to see how they fit in
I can see your silver open/close switch ("release" button) is missing, mine is missing as well. How were you able to open/close the head without the switch? I can't close it anymore since my switch came off.

It broke so I made a warranty claim from Philips and they sent me a new one! Before that I had to hold it shut (just by using it) to get it to work. I never found a way to fix it as the part that holds the foil down broke.
Hello, whats is your model of shaver i have phillips s3134 and battery voltage minted on case is 15v how its possible
@MrBazReviews
9 ай бұрын
I got a replacement from Philips (first one clip on the top head broke) The model is S3133, the 15V is the output of the mains charger, so yes it charges at 15V
Thanks for the video - very useful. I replaced the battery but all that happens when I press the on/off button is that the orange LED flashes. Nothing happens when I plug in the charger. I've checked that the charge voltage is present on the PCB pads, so the prongs are connecting OK. Any ideas?

You have to de-solder it, ie soldering iron and copper usually to remove most of the solder
A digital voltmeter is seen (1:19) inside the shaver. Kindly elaborate its presence and utility. How to repair or replace the touch switch of the shaver?

@@madhusudangupta3661 The only thing there is the 3 stage level/charge indicator, but only one shows on this model, it is likely a shared part with other models. It is not use serviceable as far as I can see. I have no other information on this.

@@MrBazReviews That's ok sir.
Why not a ordinary slot in lithium battery, without all this pulling things apart, how long does a battery last on these shavers!

We live in a disposable society! Sadly. It depends on use it should last multiple years. Maybe 3-4 years possibly a bit longer
some older shaver doesn't have soldered battery

Annoying that the manufacturer makes it so hard to replace batteries

@@DOOMJESUS It's a big debate that I can't really comment on, however Li-ion is well known for well, they can be a fire hazard for one, they also have many metals used in construction - for the sake of a few minutes to remove them, I think dumping them isn't an ideal option.
Thanks. What an exercise. Won't buy philips ever again.
