In geopolitics, peace is maintained by the balance of power among independent states. When there is a great disparity of power, war occurs. The Cold War did not become hot because both US and USSR could easily destroy each other.

that 9 dash line narrative was actually promoted by the US to justify its promoted threatened freedom of navigation. it is a mere deceptive tool used by the anti china mob to trick dumb peoples. the best way of understanding the dispute is by researching what the presidents have done as they have all the essential information for decision making. the senior marcos who initiated the spratly island claim used the tomas cloma discovery in the 1950's as his reference and not that useless spanish or any other map. marcos sr made a deal with the US then for support and tried to strengthen the MDT which all points to military intervention because of the weak claim and his confident assumption that we will advance ahead of china. Erap placed the rotten ship at ayungin but got caught and then promised to remove it that he broke, gloria made some joint exploration deals but no results, noynoy did not do anything when the chinese built structures on the islands and even supplied them soil from luzon, and du30 asked for fishing privileges. all clearly showed acknowledgment to chinese ownership of those islands. there is no overlap of eez as those islands also have eez's so we simply recompute midway from our baseline to the nearest islands like our situation with malaysia. and navigation was never restricted in eez's but the US again promoted that stupid 9 dash line to make it appear that SCS is restricted waters. now, the current administration had compromised. the US knows bbm's priorities and intentions when he won that they offered him heaven out of hell to attain his goals but the compromises are obviously to go against china.

China started this with building military infrastructure in disputed islands, destroying our coral reefs, encroaching on our EEZ, laser light incident fired towards our coast guard personnel, firing water cannon and injuring Filipino seafarers. This is deterrent, no missile is fired towards China, don't over react. Instead be more informed yourself.

@@ck-bs2ms For your info, the U.S and the Philippines have a Mutual Defense Treaty signed in 1951. The United States maintain military bases in the Philipines and conducts regular military exercises with Philippine troops pursuant to that defense treaty, and, most importantly, upon the Phil. Government's invitation. China has absolutely no right to interfere in our own internal affairs.

I don't believe FilAm blood care much about the Philippines as their home is now the USA.
