Yes yes.. Vans.. OH MY GAUD.. I rode in a van from CDO to Butuan City.. filipinas idea... and we were going to Surigao City. I am 6'05 and sat with my knees almost to my face with a guy with 4 roosters in a box next to me.. When we arrived Butuan I said no more no more and hired a driver to take us the rest of the way. ***** ONE WORD CAUTION on ferries Philippines. Many ferries put you in cabins with bad entry and exits. It way better to pay for upper - premium seats with good exits should a problem occur. Not all ferries are like the ones going to Bohol. Many have went down past with many drowning.

Transportation in the Philippines is mostly catered to fit in the filipino size that is less than 6ft. If you are more than 6 feet, then that is you own lookout to suffer inconveniences and don't complain because you are a guest in this country.

Hello Rod, Last year when I was in Tubigon Bohol. The nice Lady at Western Union called me a Great driver with one of these white vans. We hired him to take the two of us around to the Chocolate Hills and the other attractions for the day. $70 for the day. The other drivers in front of the Hotel wanted over $100 for the same trip. Take care.

It used to be you avoid Ceres bus at all costs and take a Vhire for interprovincial travel. Ceres has improved a lot with upgrades to their buses and training and monitoring of drivers. So yes, Ceres bus is my preferred land transfer method in Visayas for both comfort and safety

Pretty cheap fare from Cebu to Bohol. It looks like these vans work a bit like jeepneys? (picking up and dropping people anywhere?). Yes, a garden would be nice, reminding you your youth years. These fishes look so fresh. Great 4K footage of the countryside (coconut trees, cows in the field, deep well, the sea, cooking with wood...) Internet connection and medical facilities are life for sure! Great footage and comments! Thank you Miss and Rod! 🙋‍♂

I do not like the van bus, as you said they will keep stopping even tho it is completely full. I never used them again, would wait for the normal bus. The sliding door only opened from the outside, and wayyyy to many people packed inside. Bohol, we do not have much choices for grocery stores, really just two. The grocery store in the mall in Tagbilaran mall, the other is called BQ. They have some western foods but not much. Water for our house in the province, our water comes from a local spring. Water comes thru these black plastic pipes that lay on top of the ground. Very common here in the province. We do not drink the water, just for washing clothes, dishes, and showers. We use the same as the hotel, a large plastic garbage can filled with water and the tabo. We have to go to the market to get meat from freshly slaughtered pigs and cows on sunday mornings at 6am. Beef is not really eaten much by the locals. Many are not used to it and say they don't like the smell. Just about every home food is cooked in the dirty kitchen where wood is used to make fires. You quite often smell smoke in the air.

And just as you mention Rod, I started thinking about the airport, medical facilities and places such as S&R. Which is why Cebu indeed fits so very well. Iloilo is a good choice too, but you lose direct access to that nice airport cebu.

Good video Rod. Yes I would treat the well water, boiling and placing it in a glass jug in bright sunlight to irradiate it. As for power storage, sadly the best dollar cost is still lead acid batteries which if you never let them go below 20%-30% (except in an emergency 50%) they should last 10 years. Having some solar to maintain charge and contribute a little would be a good thing but I would want a generator, water cooled fuel injected gasoline powered of 10,000 watts so you could recharge the batteries while running all the things that are power hogs (cooking, heating water, washer and dryer) directly off the generator. Air cooled generators suck, if you will forgive the phrase, cheap and light weight and inefficient, they literally run rich to moderate the burn so they are fuel cooled, not just air cooled and air cooled diesels are no better, no more efficient. Not to mention water cooled engines are quiet with the appropriate muffler. It would be good to have a well as long as it doesn't run dry, for the garden at least. My garden will be full of native edible plants that require little attention, like water spinach and a few trees. I will keep a few chickens for eggs and I live in town. It was the edge of town a few years ago but it's solidly in town now with 3 malls, 2 hospitals, McDonalds and jollybee all within 5-10 kilometers. The problem now is traffic. If you need to get to town center it could take 40 minutes...an hour if traffic enforcers are slowing things down. That said, I don't know where else I'd be, I'm in the US again right now and things aren't a whole lot better traffic wise. Take care rod.
