Yes. And release Adaptation.
I hope to heaven that Criterion releases "Come and See." That film deserves it more than any I can think of. Please release that film, Criterion! I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

THE BATTLE OF ALGIERS, I'm surprised and elated that he admires it!
This man is legend. Also, RIP Fred Ward
I'm so glad he picked out The Wages of Fear.

Now I wonder what he thought of SORCERER!
Used to catch Kaufman at the Clay theater in S.F. One time I hit a matinee of Cassavetes' Faces at our Regency II theater off Van Ness, and I was one out of three people in the theater. The other two were Peter Coyote and his date.

Faces is so trippy too!
"What is it that gets you out of bed in the morning? I saw a great movie last night and it's all worthwhile."
Fanny And Alexander seems to be one of the most commonly picked, and what a great choice it is.
Wages of Fear is one of my favorites too - it has some of the most nail biting stunt scenes you’ll ever see.
Quills rocks, brillant underrated director, very eclectic too.
I guess in a way Kaufman's love for Wages of Fear's existentialism and nerve wracking truck scenes, must have provided a healthy part of dynamics and inspiration in bits and parts to another modern masterpiece which he helped co-wrote, Raiders of The Lost Ark
Definitely Battle Of Algiers made me arise anew! Mind boggling how that history is so swept over, and how that movie even got made! I like Phil's picks and thinking. :-)
The Unbearable Lightness of Being (one of my all-time favourites) is in much need of a 4K upgrade. Make it happen Criterion ! asap
You had me at The Right Stuff!
Just watched Quills the other day for the first time. I would love to see it in the collection if it hasn't been added already
FINALLY someone chose 'Wages of fear'. My all-time favorite!
Im loving this! I wanna see so much more of actors and directors picking out criterions. Dvds bd's laserdisc too of criterions!
Some great choices, Kaufman!
'Hello, Fritz' 'Hello, Jean' !!!
This is one of the very rare criterion guests whose picks i absolutely agree with. Couldn'tve picked better myself!
brilliant director , your movies are interesting, I like your films
75 years old he still wants to make movies sir have more will and energy than me at 23

I wish Criterion would re-release The Unbearable Lightness of Being on blu-ray - this guy is the director, why haven’t they done it??
'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' criterion!

It's on Shout! Factory so it probably won't be on Criterion
Philip, What about The Outlaw Josey Wales????
kiitos. I agree with Philip
That guy needs to make more films wanderers forever
I've always wondered what his contribution was to the writing of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK. He;'s credited but only Lucas and Kasdan ever get credit for it.

According to Lucas, Kaufman tossed around some story ideas with him, back in the pre-Star Wars, post-American Graffitti days. His most notable contribution was the idea to make the Ark of the Covenant the McGuffin of the story, since he'd done some research on it. However, Kaufman left the project to co-write The Outlaw Josey Wales, and Lucas decided to make Star Wars instead, and focus on his archaeologist movie later. When he eventually did produce it, Kaufman got a "story by" credit.
Wages of fear ..excellent
Someone needs to do a remake of The Grapes of Wrath, one that doesn’t dodge what Steinbeck had to say.
Criterion, please release Mr. Kaufman’s Henry and June
UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING w/ Juliet Binoche and Lena Olin blew DDL totally off the screen..
Phil always talks as he’s about to cry
Bill hader is a fan of amacord as well
I bet Jaws 4 isn't in there.
Wages of Fear! Remade as Sorcerer with Roy Scheider
“Crumb”!! 👌👏👌👏👏
I keep hearing Lorne Michaels
My Homeboy Kaufman!Go Hot dog! Gooooo!
Not many DVDs left in there.
PLease bring alberto fuguet
criterion should release the french film "baxter"a thought provoking classic, reminds me of a dog version of "taxi driver"
He sounds like an older Nicholas Cage.
Get Michael Moore in here
Man has civic pride.

Along with Ordinary People winning for BP and BD over Raging Bull, The Elephant Man and Tess, with Scorsese, Lynch, and Polanski respectively.
Atmosphere, coming of age, fascism. Sigh.
When is Criterion coming to the U.K? I dont have a region free player...
I wish my name was fritz. Like fritz the cat.
I almost wanted to send him a letter telling that Fanny and Algiers were released in blu-ray and they look way better that way!
That Renoir/Lang story is amazing. The edition of Fanny and Alexander also looks amazing. My region 2 version is average in comparison!
The man who came up with the original Indy Mcguffin.
if i won the lottery, criterion would get a nice chunk.
Sitting next to Fritz Lang and Jean Renoir *HOLY SHIT* I wouldn't know how to act, I'd probably piss myself in awe.
I was able to hunt down the Seven Samurai criterion cover on Amazon.
The transition from great still to greatest fart scene was awesome.
Billy Wilder's "The Lost Weekend" and Stanley Kubrick's "Lolita" should be added as well.
Amarcord The Wages of Fear Crumb Fanny and Alexander The Battle of Algiers Stage and Spectacle: Three Films by Jean Renoir
The idea of browsing around a Criterion DVD closet and getting to keep a few is really rather pleasurable.
Henry & June is an absolute delight from start to finish. Intoxicating. Ravishing. I love that sh*t. And it's somewhat underrated in my view. So yes, a healthy Criterion release would go a long way to solving that particular problem.
I don't think the filmmakers do. Darren Aronofsky once tried to get "The Fountain" a Criterion release - yet it never happened. "Pi" and "The Fountain" SHOULD be part of the collection. It surprises me that Criterion doesn't have "La Dolce Vita" and "Persona", two of the best works from Fellini and Bergman (two of Criterion's favorite). Hopefully we'll see Criterion blu-ray treatments of all of the above.
would love to see a criterion release of Henry & June
Does he get to keep the editions he picked?!!
Loved the story of seeing Fritz Lang and Jean Renoir in the same theater. One of the most influential directors from France with One of the most Influential directors from Germany.
I need to get in that closet, my criterion collection still looks weak...5 mins please..thats all i need
One of my favorite directors of all time. Is there a potential release in the works like Henry & June or The Wanderers?

I want the wanderers on criterion so bad
Epic last words.
Why is he picking the DVD editions?
Okay Criterion Collection people...why don't you let some regular dude like me pick from the closet?!? I'm available...PM me.
@latinomachete29 Fanny and Alexander I think it was.
what's the name of the film he picks after crumb? the one with the still on the cover
Is a BD of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” in the works???? Peace.
great picks. oh, when is "the right stuff" and "henry & june" coming to criterion? they need criterion releases!
whomever is filming needs to be fired for not pointing out to him that Crumb, Fanny & Alexander, and Battle of Algiers are on blu-ray 1 foot away from him.
thank u
