U did great!! I accidentally took off in mine on a taxi test thanks to an improper motormount angle. Scared the crap out of me because I had indecent wind coming across the runway which was pushing me over a field and I totally wasn’t to the point of trained up enough to fly yet.. ground looped and woke me right up.

Very good video. You made note of areas that need improvement and you didn't let things overwhelm you either. Your goal is controlled flight. You control the aircraft instead of letting the aircraft control you. Well done!

Damn , I watched 1 and 2 and now that I see ya brother, your a grey beard like me, and ya have the Bar and shield ring. Now I definitely feel like I can learn to fly and get my sports license also. Thanx!! Kewl part is I live in Oakdale, so this guy will be my trainer hopefully in 2021

How many lessons have you taken so far? Do you always fly that low or was it just for this specific lesson?

@@alaskaaksala123 I'm up to "Part 3" so far. :) I generally do what the instructor wants me to, so that's why we're low. As a rule when one is in flight training you usually do what your told. It's only after you 'solo' that you can be PIC (pilot in command) and do what you want. But I think I 'get' why you're asking and that's what 'ultralight planes' are all about. Flying "Low & Slow" so we can see the scenery up close & personal and smell those grass fields. Thanks for the comment and watching. ;)

AEROLITE 103 Builders Vlog definitely agree..when we’re the student we do what’s told. I just wondered if it was windy up higher and that’s why he had you low. But yeah! Low and slow is the way to go! Have you seen Brian Fitzgerald’s videos on here? Now that guy flies low!

No. No particular reason for flying low. Yes. I've seen Fitzgerald's vids and he does fly low. But it's a Quicksilver with a reputation for dependability and that 'fun' factor, as I am experiencing in my instructors.

Thank you so much for posting these training videos! I pass by that airport and see the California Sport Aviation sign every time I head up to UC Davis. I want to go get some ultralight training from Bill Bardin as well as I plan on buying an ultralight within the next couple of years. How was your experience with Bill? I'm really hoping he can train me, I'm disabled and have no legs do when I do buy an ultralight I'm going to have it customized so that I can operate the rudder pedals with a separate stick using my left hand (kind of like the collective on a heli). The problem with this is IDK how to go about training. When I get closer to buying the ultralight I'm going to contact Bill and see what he says. Thanks again and great video, I look forward to more of your content. Maybe some day we could fly together.

Was there a particular reason that the instructor kept you at an unsafe altitude for your circuits? You have zero chance for recovery in the event of an engine out.

That has to be extremely exciting, especially knowing that you have the aerolite waiting! Hope to be doing the same thing soon. Are you going for your light sport licence?

Wish there was interest in ULTRALIGHTS in NJ/PA area. I'd love an aerolite! Just no one to give me a ride to try out or train me. We need a dealership out here to get the sport going again. I'll be your first student and customer ;)

Do a search, find you an EAA chapter and join you'll start hearing some buzz about where you can get your UL training.plus you'll make many friends that will be valuable when you begin to build your own UL. Good luck my friend.

Out of curiosity do you live local to the Airport or did you stay local and do an intense training ? I'm considering spending as much time as it takes to get trained and get some more experience after the fact too.

Neither. I live 40 miles away one way so I went once a week while the weather was warmer. I have temporarily stopped training till spring. Then I will continue. My instructor is fine with that. I am still 'practicing' at my home airport (on the ground or above the runway) what he's taught me so far. Still haven't solo'd yet. Maybe this spring. Thanks for the comment and watching my videos.

Very cool. Hopefully I'll meet up with you at some point if I decide (likely) to do training in spring (March onwards). I'm a good 2hrs drive away. Been wanting to do this for10+ years and now the timing seems to be right. 2020's gonna be an amazing year !! :-)

1st I loved the video but I question the 150' AGL round patterns.

wow...that goes faster than I imagined. Is that about the same speed your Aerolite will fly?
