When Jay (Ed O'Neill) invites Phil (Ty Burrell) to help fly his RC airplane, Phil remembers the last time they tried that: Jay flew the plane into Phil's face. Eager to erase that memory, Phil is thrilled to be asked to share this bonding time with Jay, but his enthusiasm is dampened when Jay lets Dylan (Reid Ewing) tag along too. “What a wonderful shared experience”
I enjoyed how they set us up to expect that Phil would accidentally fly the plane into Dylan's face, and instead he accidentally flies it into his own face.

Jay would’ve deserved it. And not just for hitting him with the plane, but for always picking on him.
I fucking literally burst out laughing at that lol. Phil getting hurt, even on his own accord is hilarious

I'm confused. In the episode from 10 years ago ,Phil knew Jay hit him with the plane on purpose. But in this episode he's shocked to find this out?

I don't think he did. Claire knew that Jay did it on purpose. Jay apologized for hitting Phil, but I don't think he ever knew that Jay intentionally hit him with the plane.

Noone ''forgot'' that. Phil liked and sympathized with Dylan, it was only in this episode he had an issue with him assumingly because months of living together took a toll on Phil. You know how people get annoyed by/fed up with each other when they start living together? So that's what happened, it resolved within one episode.
Damn looks so painful, don't do this at anywhere.
