    Which is what a coach should be doing. Praising a star player even if he made an error will not help the team. People learn from mistakes. Only a bad coach would not acknowledge the errors of their main player while knowing it.

  • @vintagecardboardusa

    @vintagecardboardusa

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@umlbp The un-deviated offense they were running in the first half wasn't working because they were down by 20 points in the 3rd quarter. Kobe breaking the offense to have a chance at creating a spark in his teams offense was their strategy at maybe creating a chance to turn the game around. It just doesn't always work out but it's the game plan. Problem is they fell behind quicker than usual so they had to resort to more energy intensive measures with their best player at an earlier point than usual to have a chance at some of it rubbing off on the other Lakers during the game. Morale is a huge factor and the only way to raise it when your down by 20 in the 3rd is to make something spicy happen. We all know how spicy Kobe could get. RIP Mamba

  • @umlbp

    @umlbp

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@vintagecardboardusa @VintageCardboard We all know that but what him and coach are acknowledging is even tho he had the best intentions it would hurt the team in the long run... this is why it's dumb when everybody says any player should carry a team... anything can happen any night and on a night where you can't get stops defensively and the ball isn't falling on O you wanna give the best and hardest effort down the stretch of the 4th and spend the 3rd trying to chip away not exerting max energy because there's another quarter... in a round about way that's what they pointed at... not enough to give at the end.. when they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions this is the perfect example... He meant well and his effort was appreciated... trying to create a bucket is harder than finding a bucket tho... he coulda looked for easy buckets through teammates and maybe got a spark that way or some other way... when you're the main source of production you have to take that into account... i don't blame him at all but normally you get your team going by getting them looks in the paint not by taking them out the game.. being his level of star is intimidating to both his and the other team and there's no better way to deflate your team than showing them you don't trust them because of the earlier portion of the game... you more so wanna show aye we got it keep moving and I'll find you.. then in the 4th you'll have the other team focused on everybody, you'll still have legs and the effort to takeover is easier because your guys are looking to get open and the defense has to acct for them... sometimes seeing your guy go off does motivate but this 1 should have bn more focus on defense... aye the ball isn't doing guys let's get stops... if they don't score its easier to get back in it... but instead he stopped the ball on himself trying to climb a mountain by himself instead of getting to the top as a unit... they probably still lose but you can walk away and say we tried to turn it around as opposed to i blew my tires out in the 3rd and dug ourself deeper

    I love this video, and I still come back to it every now and then. Kobe was a pro of the highest caliber possible. When he was winning, he gave his teammates their flowers, and when the Lakers lost, Kobe took responsibility, even if it wasn’t on him. When his teammates fell short, Kobe would say that he had to lead them better. That’s a true champion and competitor. The Lakers for 2 decades were a reflection of Kobe and I am glad that I witnessed his career from the very start to its conclusion. Retirement should have been the beginning of something beautiful, but it wasn’t meant to last unfortunately. We all have our own expiration date, and most of us don’t have the curse or privilege of knowing when it will come. It still hurts to think about the day we lost such a legend, and family man.

    @@ohaiOki lol why you getting so pressed? Is my statement still not true for a lot of players? Of course there a plenty of players today that would still take criticism positively, same way some players in the 90s, 00s would have been divas about it The difference is objectively we are in the social media age, everything gets taken out of context and reiterated everyday on tv shows, people’s achievements are constantly minimised etc You can have mentally tough players succumbing because of false rumours, edited soundbites and narratives Here’s another example, Kerr said he had more fun coaching the 2020 Warrriors than the 19 Warriors because of the outside pressure (injuries, expectations, etc) The media spun it acting like Kerr didn’t like coaching KD and KD got annoyed because of something taken out of context So my point is because of the era, coaches literally have to watch what they say about their players. And more players are being criticised since they’re teenagers (Bronny, Mikey, Emoni) they’re obviously gonna be more sensitive on average than someone from MJs era 90s, 00s players literally barely get criticism from anyone, imagine Shaqs sensitive ass in 2020 and what the media would say about him So stop getting offended acting like I’m calling older players “tougher”. They didn’t have to deal with the bs of today’s game, which leads you players being more defensive/sensitive If you disagree that’s cool, but hop off my dick when I wasn’t even addressing you, thanks man 👌

    I don't know if the Lakers lost this game but... If Kobe wouldn't have takent he game "in his hands" in the 4th - everyone would be giving him a hard time saying: "Well... where was Kobe? He's meant to be our leader. He's the highest paid player on the team. He's the face of the franchise and he only took 2 shots when we're down 20 in the 4th?" People always find reason to give people shxt... if Kobe takes over in the 4th and he hits the game winning shot bringing them back from 20 or 15 or whatever - everyone riding his dxck... when he tries it and it fails... they say he should've passed. Make up your damn minds.

    Christian Schaefer But you're talking about the difference between the perspective of a professional coach, and a casual fan that knows next to nothing about the game. He should be doing what's best to put his team in a position to win, regardless of the fan reaction, if that means following the game plan that his coach put out, that's what he should do. Unless you're saying Kobe knows better than pjax of course...?

    Such a stark comparison to today's top stars who push the blame. People often blame Kobe for not being a great leader. However, in this instance, he tried to push and get his guys going at the cost of his energy, hoping and believing it would get them going. Although it ended in a loss, Kobe owned it. Unless players adopt his perspective and attitude on the game, the NBA will never be as great as it once was.
