That's kind of my thought as well. Our first dog was well trained and then she trained our second dog by example. But that's exactly how wolves and mink train their babies...babies watch and learn. What I find amazing is how well the dogs will drop rats with one "out". I have no doubt that the dogs see the mink as part of the pack but I wonder if the mink realize they're part of a team or if they just randomly flush out rats as they focus on one kill.

Joseph training minks to cache is arduous and time consuming. He is so expert at it and uses his instincts and psychology to train them. Joseph ought to be teaching his methods to colleges around the USA. The dogs give up the rats with a German command to release or if they ever fight a mink for a rat and get bitten, they learn, according ot Joseph, to not mess with a mink who will take a bite out of the biggest dog over his catch.

That was tried at some point in the history but what happened was that people started too breed mouse and rats for the bounties instead. and when the goverment stopped the bounty program becouse it didnt work people just released all the rodents out so the town ended up with more problems then when it started. i think it was in china or hong kong or something.
