Its interesting how people want to associate themselves to greatness when its convenient, he forgot to mention that Bob Marley was an outcast from every sector of pompous society in Jamaica and definitely from his father side. None of them cared to want to know Bob until he was famous. Get out of hear.

Respectfully, your information is incorrect. It was never proven that Capt. Norval ever served in the military and it has been said that captain was just a nickname. Cedella was from 9 mile not Kingston. Capt got her pregnant and married her. A few days after Bob was born, his father abandoned them. When he was around 6, his dad came back to 9mile and took him from Cedella with a promise of putting him in better schools in Kingston, but instead, he had Bob take care of an old woman in her home, until Cedella finally found him and brought him back to 9 mile. His father died when Bob was around 10 years old.

as others have mentioned bobs father died when he was 10, its also has been said by ppl close to him that marley stayed with his father for a short time in kingston. i dont know about the apple not falling far from the tree but he has got siblings in jamaica from his father who soon took up and left his new wife after bob was born. but bob marley was really a private person wen it comes to that so he certainly didnt say much publicly on that subject

i was reliably informed by my mother once a long while ago that it wasnt uncommon in times gone by for white old men to be in pursuit of the pretty little black women, and just for clarity i can say in all the time that i have known about bob marley his life and music it has never ever been suggested that his mother was of a school age.

This guy knows nothing about Bob’s parents. All wrong information. Bob’s father lived long enough to take Bob away with him and live with another woman until Bob’s mother found him and took her son. It is said that Bob even told his mum “we don’t need him” as they walked away. Please don’t mislead people.

Bob Marley's parents were married, and his mother's name is Cedella (pronounced "See-della." Bob was at least 10 years old when his father died. Norval Marley was NEVER a Captain in the British or Jamaica Army !!!!!! He was enlisted in the British Army and was injured while on active duty. He was discharged because of his injuries and given a pension. He then travelled to Africa (I think Mozambique). He wanted to get back in the military, but they didn't know about his previous injuries and being a white man at that time in Africa enabled him to get in the Army there as an officer, but I am not sure if he ever attained the rank of Captain. After his time in the military in Africa, he went to Jamaica. There he found employment as an "Over-Seer/Supervisor" at a sugar plantation. There is where he was first referred to as "Captain," but that was more of a nickname than an official title. There is NO documentation to suggest that he was ever a Captain !!!!!!

@@Voo504Doofrom my research his mother was from Jamaica. Norvals brother being born in Jamaica is doccumented and norvals nephew are doccumented to be from Jamaica. So I don’t know if the Marleys maybe moved to England when Norval was young or not: Norval marleys life is barley documented and there’s only own known photo of him. Not much is known about him. There’s rumors he was stationed in wales or England or somewhere in the UK. Chris Marley, Bobs second cousin, said Norval was born in Jamaica and traveled to the UK in august of 1916 to enlist in the British army. Idet this is doccumented tho. People in Jamaica claim that Norval was very well liked in Jamaica and was a plantation supervisor.

@@Voo504Doo yup! Very interesting. Bob was named after his uncle Robert, another fun fact. Bob had a cousin Robert, cousin Henry, and cousin and cousin Norval. Norval was gone most of Bobs childhood (potentially bust being in the British navy or marines or doing his work as a plantation overseer) but provided financial support for the family. Albert Marley (Bob’s grandfather) was all over the Caribbean. Born in England, married in Jamaica at age 24, and died in Panama. Must have been in the British marines and got stationed in the Caribbean hence settling there.

He was in prior to. The times some had plans to start war. It was said many had ideas to have some relations. He was involved in seeing what some became. The pressure wasn't a cool idea. Yes they have ideas to see what to plan. He ran and hid some from death camp I heard or at least slaving kind. The way these troops or law come in. He got a miracle producer to help. He raised funds to help underprivelege and he promised the preacher anyway. Because he got help. If his turn was..his new friends out too much in. Sure dad wanted to see if mom was a trap. Bob wanted the fences brought down. So he may have saved her ads either way.
